Don Maldonado @ Chicago Green Design Traditional Landscape, Chicago

This Rooftop retreat looks as if it is on the ground. The objective is to make the client feel as if it was a backyard not a rooftop. With Artificial truf, warm wood colors and plants that soften the walls that surround you it looks as if this rooftop retreat is in the suburbs. Photo taken by Expressiveshoots.com

Cold winters are not a problem. If anything it is the harsh UV rays over time that breaks down turf. Canada...no problem ...company is called perfect turf.

Turf estimate - I live in Naperville and am dying to turf my backyard which is currently mud. I have a dog and lots of foster dogs come through. I don't think I can afford it, but could you tell me approx cost per sf?

The set in the foreground is from Room and Board which is made from recycled milk jugs. The wicker set in the background is from Babmar which is an outdoor online discount furniture supply distributor. dont use them much but fit the bill in this case.

Love it: Faux turfGone are the days when installing synthetic grass meant transforming your lawn into something resembling a hokey mini golf course. The new turfs are more realistic and just as durable. This homeowner made the synthetic grass look even more realistic by keeping the turf area small and breaking it up with other finishes.Leave it: Microtopped concreteThe luster and depth of a concrete microtopping is surely covetable, but it’s not great in houses with big dogs or rambunctious children. Daily traffic can create deep scratches that aren’t erased by the regular resealing this finish requires.More: 6 Ways to Help Your Dog and Landscape Play Nicely Together
