Example of a classic dining room design in San Francisco

Doyle McCullar - Fine Interiors - Clifford Residence Marin

Traditional Dining Room, San Francisco

Clifford Residence: Marin, CA Owners of a newer home with a ho-hum exterior, the Cliffords and I were brought together for the filming of an episode for Home and Garden Television's, "Curb Appeal". After a dramatic transformation of the exterior into a stately home worthy of the neighborhood, they also asked me to take on several interior rooms. For the dining room I designed a custom buffet in a very traditional style to compliment the existing dining table. I chose a warm monochromatic color scheme that was inspired by colors from the surrounding and distant landscape seen from the expansive views from the dining room. I selected custom upholstery for the chairs and matching floor-to-ceiling draperies. To finish the look I was going for, I added a custom rock-crystal chandelier with a cool antique silver finish and then a hand-carved, 18 th -century seated figure from Asia as the center piece for the new buffet. In the formal living room, I pulled together a color scheme of cinnamon and taupe with slate accents found in the dining room and then juxtaposed this next to floor to ceiling peacock blue silk for the draperies. Custom antique mirrored consoles, a stunning starburst mirror for above the fire place and reclaimed architectural artifacts (circa 1750) for the mantle were the final touches for this beautiful room. © 2007 Doyle McCullar • San Francisco, California • Phone 415.601.1122
