Pasadena Showcase Water Table and Stream

Our designers teamed up to create an outdoor living space for the annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design home. Our focus was to create an outdoor living space that best utilized the area transitioning to the pool, while maintaining a water-wise/drought tolerant landscape. We incorporated our hand cast succulent water table, a pondless stream, synthetic turf, a fully paved patio with our famous Belgard paving stones, high-end outdoor furniture, a custom pergola and even a dry creek bed to tie everything together.

Can you believe that this pond uses less water than the lawn that stood before it?! Well believe it! This gorgeous pond, waterfall and landscape actually uses less water than that old lawn! Here’s a project where the client traded in their old ugly lawn for a beautiful pond, waterfall and low maintenance stunning succulents and drought tolerant landscape with synthetic turf. Not only does the client use a fraction of the water since the renovation, it is now super low maintenance! This is the family’s favorite spot to relax and enjoy any part of the day! If you are considering remodeling your yard either to save money on your water bill or just help conserve water in this tough drought, consider changing your yard into a livable and guilt free paradise with a sustainable water feature!

The contemporary deck overhangs a pond that nearly fills the backyard, bringing water up-close and personal to all those who visit. Tropical looking bog plants (many of them native) soften the transition from water to land, and provide dynamic texture and color.

The perfect alternative to a koi pond without sacrificing the natural look and sound of a stream. With no sitting water, this stream is just as much maintenance as a fountain would be.

Our client wished for a landscape to encourage many species of birds and provide privacy to the adjacent city property. Through careful management and design, we were able to integrate a man-made pond and a naturalized environment in what used to be a monoculture of turf grass.

This home had two ponds created for the homeowners. One as an entrance to the home and the other as part of a backyard oasis. They were designed using moss rock to make up many of the waterfalls and streams that cascade through the landscape. Photography by Vernon Wentz of Ad Imagery

With its classic American architecture, this Neo-Colonial residence makes a strong statement in its rural Northwest setting. Formal gardens and European-inspired details give way to natural forms and native plantings as you move away from the house, integrating the home into its environment.
