Family Room Open To KitchenTraditional Family Room, Chicago

This open family room is part of a larger addition to this Oak Park home, which also included a new kitchen and a second floor master suite. This project was designed and executed by award winning Normandy Designer Stephanie Bryant. The coferred ceilings and limestone fireplace surround add visual interest and elegance to this living room space. The soft blue color of the ceiling enhances the visual interest even further.

Our customers do enjoy this sectional, but as with most furnishings it's a matter of personal preference. Good luck in finding something that's right for your home!

The Great Room and Kitchen combined are approximately 32' by 16 1/2'.

Thank you for that. Nobody ever puts the dimensions on anything or will tell the dimensions. I really like the kitchen-den combo.

The paint colors for the walls were selected by the homeowners and unfortunately I don't have any record of the shades they selected. I'm sorry that I don't have more detailed information for you, but perhaps your local paint supplier could help you find a similar shade.

Looks like Benjamin Moore China White or Cloud White and Gray Mist in the coffers. Cannot really see the wall color - sorry

We checked our records but unfortunately we do not have the source of this lovely sectional. There are a wide variety of custom and semi-custom furniture companies in Chicago such as Walter E Smithe, and I'm sure you can find something similar in your area. Good luck for creating a comfy and beautiful living room!

The ceiling height is 8ft. (8'-5" including coffers), and each coffer is 5' wide and 5" high. The coffers added such a unique element to the space!

Thank you for replying. I didn't think an 8' ceiling would work but it sure does!

Thanks to The Shabby Nest for contributing a likely color. Unfortunately this paint color was selected by the homeowner after our project was complete so we do not have any record of the shade. Hopefully the information that The Shabby Nest provided you will be helpful.

As the remodelers for this project, we do not have any experience day-to-day with this sofa, however we know that our customers are pleased with this sectional. Hope this is helpful to you!

The homeowners were able to tell us that this is a Dr. Pitt sectional, you can find a link to this sectional here: http://www.mgbwhome.com/DR-PITT-SECTIONAL--P8690.aspx However, we do not have any details on the color and material that they selected, hopefully an associate can help you find something similar for your home.

The stone mantle for the fireplace is made of limestone.

The Stated Home added this to Sofa Secrets: A Guide to Upholstery FabricJan 11, 2017

DurabilityYou’ll frequently see the term double rubs when researching upholstery fabric. This refers to a test of a fabric’s durability. The double-rub test is done with a back-and-forth motion, similar to the wear that occurs when someone sits down and gets up again. The number of double rubs before the fabric shows visible wear provides the rating. The higher the number of double rubs, the more durable the fabric.Frequently used upholstered furniture should have fabric with a heavy-duty rating (more than 15,000 double rubs). Less frequently used pieces, like occasional chairs or a sofa in a formal room, should be fine with medium (9,000 to 15,000 double rubs) or light (3,000 to 9,000 double rubs) ratings.

6. Create stretching-out equality. Our minds really do work differently depending on our posture. When we’re stretched out, we feel and act more powerful. To make everyone in a conversation feel equal, make sure they can all stretch out. Putting only one recliner in the family room leads to someone taking on the role of family emperor.Browse sofas and sectionals

Fitting in two matching ottomans means no one has to fight over who gets the corner Ls on this sofa – there is room for all to put their feet up while they digest the big holiday meal. This spot is also good for overflow sleeping; when I was a kid, we loved to make a slumber party fort out of a big sectional sofa. You can also move it out into the room when you want to spread out.
