- Hello! We are in the process of building and I have a design question for you. I love the stained baseboards but I prefer to have the trim around my windows be painted. I noticed you did this with a few of your windows. Could I do that with all my windows and still be able to have stained baseboards or would you not recommend that?
Hi Ashlee Yardley!!
Thank you so much for your inquiry!! It is hard to give an absolute answer without seeing the other finishes in the space, because it is about creating balance in the space. However, I will tell you the reason I chose the paint/stain combo I did and maybe that will help you decide.
The Windows in the Kitchen were trimmed in white with the Panes stained so that they were seamless with the cabinetry, I wanted the cabinets to be the show stopper, and the windows to be the accent.
In the Living room - I felt that the Windows needed to be grand, to have a stronger presence being that we used a lot of wood accents in the room, If I had painted the trim around the windows, they would loose their definition and the warmth I wanted to create.
In the Guest room, I used painted trim around the windows to enhance the space and make the room feel brighter.
In all those applications I used stained baseboards and it came out beautifully!
I am a fan of mixing up the finishes, but it takes balance to make it work!! If you are local in Oklahoma, I would love to work closer with you on this!!
Thank you again!! Happy Building!

Awesome color, good cabinets. Nice flooring, missing some color, lights are ok, stove could be better.
