Kind of siding

- We are building a house with a walkout basement the same as this beautiful home and were thrilled to see how you treated the lower half of the house with vertical board and batten siding......what material is it and how did you finish it at ground level? Are you not worried that it will rot and how did you handle the transition between the horizontal and vertical siding on the sides of the house where it slopes? Thank you very much in advance!

Here we applied fiber cement sheets to the entire wall surface. Then added 1x6 miratec boards at 12" on center to create the " board and board" pattern.

We are considering closing in a large screened in porch, adding heat and air. How do you cover the underside after all of the work is completed? We live in the south with lots of bugs, critters, etc.
