Front Porch, Southern StyleTraditional Porch, Wilmington

This front porch as ipe as the flooring, usually a deep red/brown when stained as grays out over time. I used clay pots and a lot of red geraniums to give some sharp contrast to the sage green house siding (cedar shingles). The rocking chairs and swing are from Lloyd Flanders and great for outside. The big wall clock came from Frontgate but has not weathered well.

    Eddie Rider Designs,
Do you specify a type of IPE for that nice gray finish? Or does it just age? I seem to see a lot of reddish looking IPE flooring and this looks just perfect. Thanks for any advice.

This has does have a couple years on it with a lot of sun and splashing. It faces the ICW in Wilmington, NC. The owners stain it about every 2 or 3 years. It does have some upkeep to keep it looking its best.

Would this happen to be Ben Moore Nantucket Gray on the siding?

The clock came from Frontgate about 5 or 6 years ago. The finish is currently coming off but I guess it had a good life :)

    Kristin,

Believe it or not, it all came from Lowes. They are basic saucers and different feet that came from a big box store. We did the feet to help blow out the trash and keep pots from damaging the floor.

Matt, yes and they have been replaced within 7 years. They are all tied on a central switch that can operate the entire house. Ill see if I can find out who the mfg is.

Found both of them at the flea market. HA.. The birdhouse only made it for 3 years, so be aware on the $$ you spend on it.

This is a natural cedar shingle that has been painted. Hardiplank has a nice selection of sizes you may want to check out.

Designer Eddie Rider used clay pots and red geraniums on this porch to contrast with the sage-green wood siding. In case anyone gets too comfortable in the wicker rockers, a big wall clock keeps track of the time. The flooring is ipe, which turns a soft weathered gray as it ages.
