We ended up with a very unique River White. I had previously discounted River White because most of the slabs we saw were white-ish with too-tight gray waves, but then we found one with looser waves. We were also considering Salinas White (granite) and Fantasy Brown (quartzite). I absolutely loved the movement in some of the Fantasy Browns we found, and I also liked them because they were more gray than brown. When I tested them, though, some of them stained. I was surprised because I've heard quartzite is supposed to be really tough, but some Fantasy Browns have a composition that is closer to marble (or so I've been told). First pic is Fantasy Brown, then a Salinas White slab, a River White slab (the one we chose), then a close up of the slabs installed on the island, and then a whole kitchen pic so you can see how it looks from far away (sorry for the construction junk and messy floor). I did have to seal it with some pretty heavy duty sealer because it was soaking up water a bit. Hope this helps. Good luck!

The granite that we used for this particular project was Glacier White.

Hello, what colour is on the ceiling in the kitchen?

I painted a swatch of this on my kitchen wall and it looks like a darker smoky gray. Was your version altered in some way to be lighter?

  • PRO
    Hartley and Hill Design

Thank you for contacting us. No, the color wasn't altered in any way. They do have a great amount of natural light in their kitchen. We also added additional ceiling lighting, as well as a chandelier, so their is a lot of lighting. Spaces are different lighting-wise, and it can completely change the look of a paint color from one space to another. Good luck!

It is traditional Red Oak flooring.
  • cmcc3

Is the flooring red oak with just a clear finish? Do you know what kind of finish was used? I'm getting my red oak floors refinished and would like to achieve a similar color that's nt too red or orange in hue.
    Thanks,

It's not the same fabric, however, if you go to onlinefabricstore.net, check out:
Premier Prints Suzani Summerland Natural Fabric
It's about $10/yard. I have ordered fabrics from this company and I am very pleased.

Can you please tell me about the chairs
  • cmcc3

Not to get picky here but is the finish a finish labeled as "natural" or is it a clear poly finish? If clear poly, do you know if it was a water-based or oil-based?
    Thank you much!

Hi and thank you for reaching out to us. So sorry we missed those questions about our white trim and white cabinets. We are happy so many people are liking the colors used. The trim and cabinets are Benjamin Moore Decorators White. They are a great contrast to the other colors used in the space. Thank you again for your interest.

Hello, thank you for your question. This island was custom sized to our client's space. We would be happy to help you figure out what dimensions would be best for you, as size and scale are key elements in an island design. If you are not local, please take a look at our online design services at www.2h2design.com. Also, you decide to design your space yourself, just one tip to keep in mind is to take the distance between your counterstools into consideration. Its an important dimension, to make sure that you can comfortably get in and out of your island stools.

Hi the DW is very white. Not creamy. If you would like a slightly warmer white, one of our favorites is White Dove by B.M. OC-17. It is white but not as cool.

    Thank you for reaching out:)!

5. Wall paint. If you don’t want to repaint or restain your cabinets, another way to bring in color is by painting the walls. With all of the appliances and cabinetry, kitchen wall space is often fairly limited — which means not only is it quicker to paint, but the color is less likely to overwhelm than in, say, the living room. Try a smoky blue, rich “greige” or warm mocha.4 easy changes for your kitchen’s color paletteBlue paint: Mount Saint Anne, Benjamin Moore
