The floating boxes are finished with concrete board by Swiss Pearl. The underside of the boxes is also concrete board, not drywall. The concrete board is applied as a rain screen system. The walls & ceilings are insulated.

Is there a manufacturer of these or a particular technique to how they are made? I have had several architects in South Florida wanting to achieve this effect on their projects.

These boards are by SwissPearl and they are installed in a rain screen application over a waterproofing layer

Is this acrylic stucco finish coat, or cementitious?

Looks like Swisspearl installed as a rainscreen application. I'd assume the insulation is within the framed wall cavity and not part of the siding assembly.

For the transformation of this old house, the architects articulated two second-floor boxes capturing distant views. From the outside we can see that the glass is treated — like bifocals — with a translucent strip at the bottom to maintain privacy.

The courtyard was previously divided into three separate areas. "We made it one large space — essentially you enter into a front outdoor room — and had the living room [which was previously at the back of the house] and dining area open into the courtyard," says Griffin. The old brick walls were redone with stucco. The Louis Ghost Armchairs and Bubble Club Sofa are both by Philippe Starck for Kartell. The firepit is from Blomus.
