So is the shiplap paneling sheets or tongue & groove? They look 6-8" in height? We just went to a moulding store with this picture in hand and they only had 5" beadboard. The search continues and any additional insight appreciated.

Here are the specifics from Sheila Narusawa, the architect:

The wall paneling is 1x [actual 3/4" thick] shiplap pine [or poplar if it is to be painted]. The paint color is Benjamin Moore Linen White in a flat 'matte' finish.

This wonderfully rustic old cupboard may have been painted originally or stained … sometimes it’s hard to tell. But often a piece like this has been repainted several times, and in different colors. The result is that over time, and with wear and tear, all the colors begin to show through and create a different kind of charm. What was intended to be monochromatic becomes polychromatic by accident.

Look what this whimsical cupboard brings to this space, and imagine what the space would lose if it weren’t there. Note, too, that the scale of the older linen-covered chairs is just right. And even though the table is long, its profile is not in any way bulky — helpful when you’re dealing with small spaces.

      7. Farmhouse cupboards. Primitive wooden cupboards and pie safes add a warm, handmade touch to any room in the house. Use one to store linens in the dining room, organize mail and clothes in the mudroom, or bring extra storage to your kitchen.

      6. Let the chips fall where they may, but only off one piece of furniture per room. Let one shabby piece have the spotlight and keep everything else crisp and tailored. This cabinet adds just the right dose of patina style.

Distressed sky blue on an antique sideboard adds the only strong hit of color in this serene, rustic space. The room is all lines and angles, and the sideboard dovetails perfectly. Upholstered armchairs provide a needed touch of softness.

Need linen white on walls. Light gray on beadboard? Or white beadboard and gray vanities?
