This all-in-one kitchenette can be used as a secondary kitchen or even the main kitchen in one room living environments like studio apartments etc. This Mini-Kitchen Armoire is so special because it does not need to look like an exposed kitchen all the time. Designed for a contemporary New Jersey shore vacation home, it functions as the second floor auxiliary kitchen for an entertainment room that features a black and tan color scheme (black furniture, blonde wood floors). The Midnight Black compact kitchen features Taupe accents for a strikingly bold but elegant appearance. This kitchen made entirely of workstations combines with an informal dining area to form the heart of this Long Island, New York ‘Over 55’ condominium. These homeowners designed their kitchen as a collection of furniture, because they could see it from the foyer, dining room, living room and breakfast room, and they did not want it to look like a normal kitchen. They had a lot of artwork and sculpture and liked the idea of a kitchen that was filled with ‘3-D sculptural-like’ pieces of furniture unspoiled by the look of imposing appliances. Hiding the appliances in the pieces kept the kitchen uncluttered as well.

The problem with typical small exposed mini-kitchens is that they never disappear. When they are not being used, they are still part of the room. Dishes in the sink, ovens and cooktops staring you in the face. On the other hand, this Armoire Kitchen is so beautiful that it can actually become the focal point of the room! This Vacation Home kitchen in an old New Jersey beach community features a Working Pantry, a Sink Workstation and (2) Work Tables that flank the range. The sculpturally symmetrical maple workstations blend with the hi-tech appliances to form two separate but symmetrical work areas, each focused around the sink or range. This symmetry, coupled with the lack of upper cabinets gives this kitchen its simple, comfortable feel because symmetry is so easy for the eye to understand (compared to the often chaotic assemblage of continuous cabinetry, counter tops and appliances). The continuity of seeing the tiger-wood floors and light colored walls between all the furniture pieces also allows the adjacent living and dining areas to blend flawlessly into the kitchen.

When the doors are opened in this working pantry, the hidden countertop will contain small appliances and will be used as a baking surface. The doors store a large collection of spices.
