Typically a simple surround like this is referred to as a bolexion style surround. Bolexion describes any molding that projects beyond the wall or surface which it decorates.

So was there existing brick and you had to bore holes for the wires? or did you put up the wall and leave space for the wires?
  • PRO
    John Kraemer & Sons
The latter... This is a new home, not a remodel. So, nothing was existing. Thanks, and have a great day!

create a similar look with wesley hall furniture. They have magnificent construction and fabulous fabrics and design your own programs where you can customize your own look. Wesley hall furniture is extremely well made-- an investment that will last you for years!

All TV's are controlled through the home's low voltage system, which eliminates unsightly wires and cords. Have a great day!

We do a good amount of low voltage work for John Kraemer & Sons, generally speaking in situations like this above a fireplace we install a box behind the tv which houses electrical and even some equipment, this allows those cables to be completely concealed. Please reach out to us if you have any further questions.

Hi There! It is regular brick with a thick "sloppy mortar," and then faux painted to give the frosted effect. Thanks, and good luck!

I would say yes. Maybe some interior designers from the Houzz community can chime in here?

Of course. I think it would actually help 'traffic flow' because you'd be less likely to run into the corners of the ottoman in small space. Also, curves help the eye keep moving, which give the illusion of a larger space.

The client worked with Rauscher & Associates and Historic Studio on this project. They or someone on the Houzz community should be able to help you. Thanks!

According to the architect, it is regular brick with a thick "sloppy mortar," and then faux painted to give the frosted effect.
  • rbcola
Is "sloppy mortar" the same as "weeping mortar"? My opinion is….it's similar but not necessarily the same…..unique to the desired effect and the bricklayers application/expertise.

Hello! These clients purchased all of their own furniture, so I am not quite sure where it came from. I apologize that I cannot help. Maybe someone else from the Houzz community can offer opinions on where to get something similar? Good luck!
  • kebinteriors
yes, create a similar look with Wesley Hall furniture. They have a great design your own program and an amazing fabric selection! I LOVE this look. It's timeless.

I assume you mean the fireplace wall, and not the fireplace itself? The wall is faux finished to look distressed. Carter Averbeck from www.trompeart.com did the work. Thanks!
