What Houzz contributors are saying:
Rectangular. Single-sided desks may be called writing desks, computer desks, office desks or executive desks. They can be a slim desktop on legs, a countertop built into a nook or a heftier model outfitted with drawers and cabinets. This Calabasas, California, home office contains a desk against the wall for computer work and storage, and another desk floating in the room for creative work.
2. Embrace MultitaskingWorking from home isn’t always just about checking and replying to email. The following rooms take into account various tasks, such as crafting, printing, meeting with clients and more with things like large or multiple desks and item-specific storage. This former children’s bedroom became a postproduction office for a professional photographer, with a separate desk area for processing photos and another for meeting with clients or viewing printouts. AFTER: The daughter’s old room is now a crisp, bright and well-organized photography production office. The area on the left is for computer and administrative tasks, and the free-standing desk is the creative space. “The room is minimal, clean and easy to maintain — there’s a sense of serenity in this active space,” Schwartz-Muller says. The designer went with engineered hardwood floors and Flor carpet tiles because the family has several pets. Flor tiles are easy to clean, and it’s easy to replace just one or two if necessary.Wall paint: Cool December, Dunn-Edwards
