Well thank you, I appreciate your kind words. Maybe it comes down to philosophy. I think we are in the business to share ideas and grow stronger as a community. What good is information if it can't be shared :)

The sofa is from Rowe and just about 81". I believe it has since been discontinued, but the do have many other choices. Apartment style sectionals are very popular. Many designers also have access to custom sofas and then you can choose exactly the size and shape you need and they are relatively inexpensive. Hope that helps!

It is a simple strip oak with a natural stain. A few of the pieces naturally came up dark and added some nice dimension.

I love the closet door in the kitchen. Where did you get it?

The closet door is custom milled, but should be fairly easy to duplicate with a skilled carpenter.

Hi Jennie, congratulations on your new home! And what a great question! If you have the choice of where to place the amoire, then facing the doorway would probably be more inviting, as we have done there. If you do chose to face the back towards the door someday, just to mix things up (and who doesn't want to!) then you might consider a small sofa console behind the sofa to break up the back and offer a convenient place to place a lamp or drop car keys and mail.

    Hope that helped!
