Julie, although the previous poster had an old mirror recut, it does not have the beautiful beveled edge and shows those little clips to hold it in place. Yours is a beautiful custom design and shows. You get what you pay for in this instance :)
  • SandyC.
I also agree, a designer often saves the clients money, by preventing design disasters that will ultimately need to be redone. A designer has access to vendors through the trade that offer considerable discounts, not to mention higher quality and style. It is a misnomer designers are expensive, to me I would rather pay the money up front, than live with something I am u happy with, or worse have to redo.

Hi - we love this bathroom and were inspired for our remodel by it. One question I had was the medicine cabinet and opening into the sconce. I assume that the cabinet opens that way and that if it was open all the way it would hit the light - is that correct? Or did you adjust it to account for that? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

We had CHC cabinets installed and chose a custom color -- it looks amazing. With CHC, they can help you design your perfect space and create a unique color scheme on top of the quality of their custom cabinets. This is the link that got us started, it can help you too! http://carolinaheartwoodcabinetry.com/our-products/premium-paint/

In an earlier note, you said the vanity was 48" wide. Is it 48 or 55?
  • jujucampbell
Andrew1518 in my experience the counter top is always slightly longer than the vanity. So in the case it's probably 48" from center with a 2.5 inch surplus on each side. Hope this helps.

Beautiful bathroom! I like the look of these sconces and will also have tight space to the right of my mirror like pictured here so am increasing my cabinet width. A lighting store is trying to steer me away from fabric shades in a bathroom because of moisture. Have you or any of your clients had problems with this? I really love this look and don't know what else I would go with instead. By the way - my sister lives right down the street from you in Bel Marin Keys!

The cabinet is by Crystal and thay have proprietary colors which cannot be found in a paint can. This color is called Bisque and is a creamy offwhite.

  • jeanking

Darn. Having a hard time figuring out colors and I thought this would work. Do you feel this resembles swiss coffee in BM? Really stumped with all the colors I need to choose. Love the wall color too, read in your earlier thread its ballet white

No, from our experience, since oil rubbed bronze is not shiny, watermarks and smudges do not show up as easily as on a chrome finish.

Hello and thank you for your question. This mirror surround was custom made by the cabinet maker to match the vanity below. The vanity and Mirror are 48" wide, the actual mirror showing is approx. 36" wide by 46" tall. The cabinetry was installed then we had a glass specialist come in to measure for the mirror which was installed afterwards.

Thank you for the question, these lamp shades came with the fixture. However, you might try looking on Ballard design they offer a lot of different styles of shades for sale on their site.

sanada mila wrote:Dec 6, 2016

I place sconces based on their size (height) and where the bulb is on the fixture, I like the bulb to be placed 63" - 66" above the floor, or eye level so the sconce adequately lights the face. I do not recall what the exact dimension is in the photo above, but based on my above comment, it is irrelevant because you should consider the fixture you have selected. Start with the bulb height at eye level, then come down to the plate location. There is no standard where one placement height fits all, every fixture is different.

The simplest answer is to hire a designer. I designed this mirror surround and accompanied mirror, first on paper, then had my cabinet maker make the frame and had the mirror custom templated to the frame by a glass shop. The mirror surround was installed and the glass shop templated it in place, then came back to install it into the frame opening. You will need t draw this to scale, and figure out the radius you desire, or hire a designer to do this for you. The details in this bathroom came together like they did because of the involvement of a designer.
