What Houzz contributors are saying:
Exposed ducting and electrical conduit are also common in urban loft spaces, where exposed brick walls have no inner wall through which the mechanicals can be routed out of view. A junction box is a metal box where wires are tied together. The faceplate of the junction box is removable, providing access to the wires.
This leather chesterfield is mostly traditional — the bench seat, the leather, the proportions — but its lines are straight and modern as opposed to curved. It adds softness to this concrete-heavy room, but it also mimics all the straight lines.
The great thing about raw lofts is that they provide such interesting palettes. Whether you choose to go completely modernist or industrial, you pretty much can't go wrong. I love this room because the designer incorporated a well-worn Chesterfield sofa that looks as if it's been around for ages with sculptural and minimalist classics: the beechwood Marc Newson for Cappellini chair and Pepe Cortés' aluminum Jamaica bar stools for Knoll.
