Jackson Hole ResidenceRustic Bedroom, Portland

This 7-bed 5-bath Wyoming ski home follows strict subdivision-mandated style, but distinguishes itself through a refined approach to detailing. The result is a clean-lined version of the archetypal rustic mountain home, with a connection to the European ski chalet as well as to traditional American lodge and mountain architecture. Thank you for the compliment. The curtains are Pendleton wool drapery fabric--in the light blue.

Sorry, I only just spotted this question. The wall color is Woodlawn Blue by Benjamin Moore.

    Hi missicamps,
Thanks for the compliment. I (Michael Howells) come from New Mexico originally so the southwest is in my blood. If you live in the SW, lucky you! As for this room, it's the master bedroom of a ski home in Wyoming, for which I did both architecture and all interior design/furnishings. Rather than opting for a completely western feel, we melded various sensibilities. The home is warm and rustic and very much of the west; it also has European influences, both architecturally and in the furnishings. The silk and Persian wool rugs in the home bring a bit of timeless Old World elegance to the space and counterbalance the heavy western/timber/lodge-y elements. Or at least that was the intent. I'm glad you like the cross motif. This is carried through elsewhere in the project and is a bit of a Swiss/alpine touch. If you aren't familiar with the area, the landscape of Jackson Hole is very reminiscent of that part of the world. Thanks again for your comment.

Sorry, this rug was misidentified (by my staff that uploaded the pic). It's not a Lapchi; it's actually a one-of-a-kind Persian rug from Afghanistan. Sorry for the confusion.

Frehafer from Wellington’s Leather Furniture recommends a leather conditioner with sunscreen several times a year. To protect your leather furniture, keep it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can cause drying and cracking. “Leather breathes and continues to remove moisture from its environment to keep it soft and supple,” Frehafer says. “In certain conditions and climates where it is very dry, it will require more conditioning because of less moisture available.”Leather bed and chair: Mitchell Gold + Bob WilliamsMoreHow to Keep Your Upholstery Looking GoodHow to Clean Your Hardwood Floors
