This historic Ole Hansen house needed a full renovation and although the clients are on a budget, some paint and new furniture did wonders. We’ve turned this Spanish Mediterranean house into a bright livable space with new lighting, furniture and paint.
What Houzz contributors are saying:
Make space to create. If you’re a creative soul but find that your sewing, knitting or crafting takes place on the kitchen table or in front of the TV, consider setting up a dedicated space for making. No need to tidy up half-finished projects at the end of the day, and you’ll have no distractions apart from daydreaming — and thinking up new ideas, of course — while you gaze out the window. This creation station is so tranquil, even the cat wants to get in on the act.
Darn your own socks and sweaters. Rather than either getting rid of an old sweater or sending it out to the cleaners for repair, why not try your hand at mending that little hole? If you’ve never sewn before, there’s no need to be intimidated. I recommend searching online for video tutorials (there are tons) and watching a few before getting started. You may also want to start with a sock rather than a sweater for your first effort, to keep the pressure off until you get the hang of it.Want to get a bit more creative? Try stitching colorful patches over the holes in your jeans or cardigan, or choose a contrasting thread to stitch up a buttonhole.
