    I agree that they are 3x6" tumbled travertine, you can purhcase them in two different shades from Home Depot. The shade above and one that is lighter.

    The backsplash is tumbled travertine. The lower part is a brick pattern 5/8" x 1" mosaic with a matching pencil moulding and 3"x6" tile on top.

    Yes, actually. "Mismatched" cabinetry is a trend at the moment including not just different colored islands, but also different colors for top and bottom cabinetry.

                              Task lighting, including undercabinet lghting, is one of the single most important lighting specifications for any project, in my opinion. It puts the light where you need it most. In a kitchen it would be under the cabinet, where the light is in front of you, illuminating the surface and its objects, and not behind you, creating shadows. Pendants can also be considered task lighting.
