Getting the grey out of Smokey Hills is going to be practically impossible. Alder, Cherry, or Walnut are going to brown it out about as much as it can be. Avoid Maple, Pecan, or Oak as their natural tones will have little affect on the grey. Walnut would be your best option, but it is a 20% upcharge over the base woods (Alder, Pecan, and Oak). You might look at the color Riverbed, it is much more brown than grey, but not as dark and rich as Smokey Hills.

Thanks. I like the grey but wanted to show the brown tones as well. I appreciate the feedback.

The Smokey Hills stain is a standard color through Omega Cabinetry. It should be available through any Omega Cabinetry dealer.

    Hi Awhite225,

The Smokey Hills stain is only sold on stained cabinetry ordered from Omega Cabinetry. The look here is achieved with their grey-colored stain on cherry wood.

I have waxed chalk paint my sister in law painted. See below. I don't know how to remove wax. And, I know they're 40 years old, however the biggest change I can do is to try to get what I call olive green or olive khaki into something remotely matching the paint.

what color would you match this up to in the rustoleum kit?
  • PRO
    Thomas Home Center
    Hi Ringling,

This is a tough one. All the colors shown by Rustoleum are custom tinted from the dark base color. A paint expert at your local hardware store may be able to look at the color in the picture and give a recommendation. You will likely take the dark base and add some warm undertones to get the same look shown in this photo.

Thank you for your question! These knobs and pulls have since been discontinued by the manufacturer, but it should be simple to find something similar. Bring this picture into a True Value or other hardware store with a selection of knobs and pulls. Make sure you have your cabinet door style and cabinet color picked out and a sample with you. Good luck on your project!

We would be happy to help you with any questions about your back porch. However it is pretty difficult to explain how to build a wood ceiling through text here. Can we set up an appointment with you in your home? We're located in McKinleyville, CA. Where are you located?

The other option is to come by our store at 1685 Sutter Road in McKinleyville. Our expert staff would love to help you and show you the best materials for the job.

As for the hardwood floor in this kitchen, yes, it is wood. It was coated with an ultra-glossy finish to give it that shine.
