Sorry I didn't get a chance to answer sooner. The overall width is 51" and 46" inside. The overall height is 96" and 85" inside. The counter is a 37" AFF to match the kitchen perimeter countertops.

    Thank you for your answer!

I was thinking that it would be perfect with pockets on each side to slide the doors into for daily use(I am thinking like entertainment centers used to have) and then pull them out and close the pantry when company is coming.

Im having this pantry idea in my new kitchen to be installed in a few weeks. The hold up right now is the electrical. It has to have a cutoff switch to pass inspection.

    The French Tradition

The doors do close because the upper shelves are shallower. The home owner pulls the appliance out when she uses them and pushes them back when she is ready to close it up.

We discussed using pocket doors for this but the customer wanted the storage on the doors. Also, the overall interior with would need to be 5-6" less in order to allow space for the pockets.

Speaking of pocket doors here are some photos of an interesting pocket door system we did in Pasadena. The door had to bi-fold and pocket into the wall on the right side because the left side was a sheer wall. The doors were so wide the pocket went through the wall on the right side and into a linen cabinet that we built in the foyer.

It is trying to be sorted., But at first glance it looks very sloppy and bad.

Agreed--would hate to show the world all my stuff in storage each time I use the microwave!

What colour (and manufacture) did you use on the cabinets and the walls?
  • mdbarber

Don't like the stuff on the door but do like the shelf/drawer combination.

Keep most of your things out of sight. We all have stuff — usually way too much stuff. And having lots of things in view is stressful, because it makes your eyes work hard. You don't have to be a minimalist, but having adequate storage is key to reducing stress.

Let there be light. Having proper lighting near a wall pantry is essential, but consider adding a light fixture inside too.

In my old apartment we had ours hidden in the pantry like this, and I loved it. A small warning about placing a microwave in the pantry: The pantry might end up smelling like the sandwhich your warmed up for lunch.

Questionable? but coffee center/toast center seem to make a good idea
