I see that this is an older post but I'd like to give some options for barn door hardware. Although we did not provide the door or hardware for this project I want people to know where they can find the hardware if they are in the market for it. Please feel free to visit our website and look through our selection of barn door hardware. You can visit our website at http:/ to see our products and you may contact us via email at, As far as barn doors go, we usually have a local window and door company help us and our customers find a door that fit their budget and design. Usually, they are able to order almost anything you have in mind!

how did you finish the edges of the door so that it looked authentically like thick boards as opposed to the ones you glued overtop the flush panel door?

These doors were custom made. We used a solid MDF flush panel door and then applied nickel gap boards over the door panels.

Beautiful job! I'd like to copy the wall that separates the kitchen and pantry. How are the edges of the door finished? Is the doorway trimmed with boards, sheetrock or something else? Since there is no baseboard, do you have advice on placing the lowest board? Am I correct that you start with it and work your way up?

Continuing the horizontal lines straight from the walls onto the sliding door of this Charlotte, North Carolina, kitchen makes for an integrated look, proving that shiplap should not be limited to walls alone. The choice to use “barn door” hardware is also a great way to echo a farmhouse motif without going overboard.See how to get a farmhouse-style kitchenFind barn-door hardware

Country Charm Shiplap fits the casual, country charm many consumers are gravitating toward today. In the photo here, the barn door itself is constructed in shiplap material.

nickel gap door, but would have concealed hinges... this would be what the door itself could look like, no trim.
