Is the wood countertop on the white oak island the same wood & the same stain? It looks complementary, but different. Also, how thick is the countertop? Thanks!

    what a weird comment???
  • monicabendele

Actually, "liznbruce" if you are the homeowner/client making the comment to the designer, then I can totally relate ;) How does the architect or designer claim ownership when the client comes in with EVERYTHING ?

I looked into this. There is a sink like this made by Blanco. It is VERY expensive...over $2000.
  • lisaschreiber
Could be a "just" sink. I have the double bowl one and love it.

You can go a couple of different ways.
    1. Incorporate pops of red into a grey room then the chairs will look as if u intended for them to be a focal point

    2. Reupholster the chairs in a fabric that incorporates the colors that compliment your taste. Depending on the shape of your chairs & your own personal abilities &/or bravery, u may be able to DIY following videos online. Or of course, hire someone to do so after you choose the fabric.

    3. Use a fabric paint to paint the fabric of the chairs a different color...not my favorite idea but it is an option.

    4. Purchase slipcovers & hide the red underneath with the pattern of your choosing !

Usually people don't paint their brick fireplaces. It's pretty common for people to whitewash them, however. Brick is pretty difficult to work with--when people have it installed in their home, such as around a fireplace, it's because they like the look of the brick. You can definitely try whitewashing it, though. Maybe it'll be easier to paint after that. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! Good luck, Diann! http://www.swbrickandfireplace.com

Add the right amount of rustic style. At this cozy lake home in South Carolina, reclaimed-oak counters have been planed and finished for a clean look, warmed by all of the rich tones in the wood.Be aware that when using reclaimed wood on countertops, you’ll have to refinish them every few years, particularly around the sink. You’ll also have to keep on top of any splashes or standing water, something that is not a concern with most other types of countertops. If you are mixing wood with more durable stone countertops, try to use the more durable surfaces around the sinks and in spots where you’ll be setting down hot cookware. See the rest of this home

                  2. What appliances do you need in your kitchen island? If you’ve decided you want to integrate appliances into your kitchen island, you need to plan for function as well as spacing. “If the main sink is in the island, you’ll need a dishwasher and have to decide if the dishwasher is to the right or the left of your sink,” says Justrich. If this is going to be your main prep area, you’ll need trash, recycling and compost areas nearby, too. How big is your kitchen? If you have a large kitchen and your refrigerator isn’t near the island, you may want a smaller undercounter refrigerator nearby. If you’re installing a cooktop, take the space needed for an exhaust vent or hood into account. Make a list of everything you want in your kitchen island, in order of priority. You may not be able to get everything in your island, but try to get at least your top five features.Shop: Browse thousands of major kitchen appliances

Like the towel holder close to sink. In our kitchen, towels could hang under sink, recessed but in front of grill covering rad
