Few things make a room feel crisp and clean like perfect symmetry. This pair of couches makes the room feel balanced.

1. The Surveyor's Style Lamp: These floor lamps are inspired by the stands surveyors use, hence the name. Here a pair of polished surveyor style lamps frame the inside of a spectacular window and add to the symmetry of the space. They are also the only elements that add a bit of black to that wall. Added bonus: When your surveyor's lamp inspires a conversation, you can casually drop the words "Plumb Bob" into conversation, and it's always fun to say "Plumb Bob." Try it.

2. Clear. Go room by room. Take a good look at every surface, then remove everything from it. Dust. Take a critical look at each item and decide which ones you may want to leave out in the open.

This room is all about symmetry, black and white, and natural light. Note how the light reflects off the dark lacquer furniture.

Formal Balance is demonstrated here by the symmetrical design of the furnishings and room along with the uncomftorable furniture

A symmetrical balance occurs if you can split the room in half, and the sides will be mirrored. They will contain all the same furniture, in the same spots. For example, the chandelier, the lamps, the couches, the chairs, and the windows.
