Living Room Ideas

This family room was updated using a soft palette of greens, blues and lavender in all new furniture, rugs, lamps etc. It is super functional for a busy family. All of the fabrics and the rug are performance. The new modern light fixture is a perfect balance with the traditional style of the room.

This beautiful custom home built by Bowlin Built and designed by Boxwood Avenue in the Reno Tahoe area features creamy walls painted with Benjamin Moore's Swiss Coffee and white oak floating shelves with lovely details throughout! The cement fireplace and European oak flooring complement the beautiful light fixtures and French green front door!

Our clients wanted to modernize their 1980's home, focusing on reimagining the main floor. We used warm palettes, natural elements, and clean lines while maximizing natural light and preserving key architectural features to create a welcoming, functional space. The living room features vaulted ceilings lined with wood shiplap, adding warmth and charm. Tall windows capture the beautiful outdoor greenery. With comfort as a priority, we sourced a reclining sofa and chair, complemented by a cozy fireplace and thoughtful decor for an organic feel.

A favorite of the home, this fireplace surround was original to the home, but updated with a black slate surround and hearth bringing a modern touch to the ornate and traditional detailing.

This room had no ceiling details and was a plain vanilla box. We added all the bookcases, inspired by Eliel Saarinen's reading room at Cranbrook.

We removed the hallway and demising wall to enlarge the front room of this colonial era row house. Respecting the home's historic bones (Benedict Arnold lived a couple doors up) we maintained the window and ceiling trim and old pine floors. During demolition we excavated a hidden second fireplace and embraced the quirkiness by giving the living room two.

This whole-home renovation honors traditional character while adding modern comfort, custom craftsmanship, and welcoming spaces designed for family gatherings. A seafoam sofa anchors one end of the living room, paired with floral lounge chairs, tailored Roman shades, brass accents, and abundant natural light.

This modern renovation creates a focal point for a cool and modern living room with a linear fireplace surrounded by a wall of wood grain granite. The TV nook is recessed for safety and to create a flush plane for the stone and television. The firebox is enhanced with black enamel panels as well as driftwood and crystal media. The stainless steel surround matches the mixed metal accents of the furnishings.

Part of a full renovation in a Brooklyn brownstone a modern linear fireplace is surrounded by white stacked stone and contrasting custom built dark wood cabinetry. A limestone mantel separates the stone from a large TV and creates a focal point for the room.
