This project has been archived so I am not exactly certain. But if my memory is correct it is actually Eldorado Stone.

Always better to select a finish in person from a real sample vs. a photograph The true color is hard to replicate on a computer screen.

This fire place was existing. We re-clad it in stone and added a gas insert.

We are architects, we provide the design details and intent and the contractor purchases materials specified and and constructs.

Is your floor red oak with a stain or natural?

They are white oak and these particular ones were the client selected their preference from a board in the field....I highly recommend that you get samples and not rely on a this blog to learn why...
“What color? --has to be the most asked question I get on Houzz. I hesitate to answer the question because I feel it is very misleading. I wrote a blog to explain. Please take the time to read it.

    Best of Luck.

Actually the floor is a pre-finished wide plank quarter sawn oak.

The slate is a multi colored slate in varied sizes.

Double check the cut pattern on the flooring. Those planks are Plain/Flat sawn. Not Quarter Sawn. I just dont want anyone to get confused. Rift & Quartered flooring will have lots of medullary rays. Flat/Plain Sawn Oak displays a cathedral pattern on the face of the board.
