Bruce is the gourmet cook in his family. Surrounded by his girls, his culinary expertise is highly appreciated. He already built a wonderful outdoor barbecue, pizza oven, refrigerator and fireplace adjacent to his outdoor decks and entertainment area. But the kitchen needed help. The home needed other improvements as well and their master bedroom and bath took priority. Bruce patiently waited while his master bedroom and bathroom were remodeled while he dreamed of his new and improved workspace in his kitchen, a wet bar, a walk-in pantry. How about a small sitting area near by where the kids can watch a movie? How about a fireplace too? Bruce and Joy wanted a "retro" look. Forties - ish. A twist on that era but an older style and look to the cabinets and finishes. The kitchen is as bright and cheerful as the talented cook who throws together dinner parties with the ease of Julia Child! The cabinets are custom made and painted in a flat finish for an older feel. The wet bar countertop is a beautiful piece of black marble while the main counter is a bright yellow tile accented with black. Joy said please give me a small desk. A command station for the phone, for messages...and make it close to the garage door! A small built-in desk is conveniently located for the kids to grab their lunches as they race off to school each morning. The nearby walk-in pantry has a screened door - a part of that retro look. The powder room was squeaked into the back corner of the space but it too has an older retro look.
