The goal of this project was to update the outdated master bathroom to better meet the homeowners design tastes and the style of the rest of this foothills home, as well as update all the doors on the first floor, and create a contemporary mud room and staircase to the basement.
The homeowners wanted a master suite that had a masculine feel, incorporated elements of black steel, wood, and contrast with clean white tiles and counter-tops and helped their long and skinny layout feel larger/ make better use of the space they have. They also wanted a more spacious and luxurious shower with water temperature control. A large window that existed above the original soaking tub offered spectacular views down into Boulder valley and it was important to keep this element in the updated design. However, privacy was also very important. Therefore, a custom-built powder coated steel shelf, was created to provide privacy blocking, add storage, and add a contrasting design element to the white wall tiles. Black honeycomb floor tiles, new black walnut cabinetry, contemporary wall paper, a floor to ceiling glass shower wall, and updated fixtures elevated the space and gave the clients exactly the look and feel that they wanted.
Unique custom metal design elements can be found throughout the new spaces (shower, mud room bench and shelving, and staircase railings and guardrails), and give this home the contemporary feel that the homeowners desired.

It’s always a blessing when your clients become friends - and that’s exactly what blossomed out of this two-phase remodel (along with three transformed spaces!). These clients were such a joy to work with and made what, at times, was a challenging job feel seamless. This project consisted of two phases, the first being a reconfiguration and update of their master bathroom, guest bathroom, and hallway closets, and the second a kitchen remodel.
In keeping with the style of the home, we decided to run with what we called “traditional with farmhouse charm” – warm wood tones, cement tile, traditional patterns, and you can’t forget the pops of color! The master bathroom airs on the masculine side with a mostly black, white, and wood color palette, while the powder room is very feminine with pastel colors.
When the bathroom projects were wrapped, it didn’t take long before we moved on to the kitchen. The kitchen already had a nice flow, so we didn’t need to move any plumbing or appliances. Instead, we just gave it the facelift it deserved! We wanted to continue the farmhouse charm and landed on a gorgeous terracotta and ceramic hand-painted tile for the backsplash, concrete look-alike quartz countertops, and two-toned cabinets while keeping the existing hardwood floors. We also removed some upper cabinets that blocked the view from the kitchen into the dining and living room area, resulting in a coveted open concept floor plan.
Our clients have always loved to entertain, but now with the remodel complete, they are hosting more than ever, enjoying every second they have in their home.

This elegant, yet masculine bathroom was designed for two pre-teen boys. Our client wanted something they could grow into and look more like a high-end hotel rather than a kid's bath. The Italian plumbing fixtures, heavy duty shower doors and Donald Kaufman paint add a level of sophistication and quality to this bathroom, yet all of the surfaces are low maintenance and easy to clean. Imagine soaking in this tub while taking in the spectacular view!

This new bathroom has a sleek look. We installed a new vanity from Bertch Bath with a great deal of storage. The large vanity top is convenient for getting ready in the morning, with lots of space for grooming products. The mirror with coordinating trim is paired with two wall sconces adding even light to one standing in front of the mirror. We removed the bathtub and installed a new shower with custom shower glass door enclosure. The shower has a new bench seat in it, topped with with same material used on the vanity. Above the bench seat is a niche for storage of shampoo and soap. The niche and decorative row are a tiled with a natural stone blend tile application. This brings a burst of color and attention, drawing the eye around the bathroom. This shower also boasts a 3 body-spray system in addition to the shower-head and hand-held fixtures. To the left of the shower is a built-in recessed tall linen closet that coordinates with the bathroom vanity. This adds a large amount of storage without taking up any additional room in the bathroom. The floor tile is a tile plank, adding the warmth and texture of wood flooring, but with the durability and surface of tile.
