My client came to me needing a major update to his 1980's home. We painted the walls, added wainscoting, updated the window coverings in a crisp white Hunter Douglas Silhouette shade, and totally changed up the color palette throughout the main floor of his house. Navy blues, light grays, dark woods, and white lacquer now give a fresh, masculine vibe to his home.

Photography by Eduard Hueber / archphoto North and south exposures in this 3000 square foot loft in Tribeca allowed us to line the south facing wall with two guest bedrooms and a 900 sf master suite. The trapezoid shaped plan creates an exaggerated perspective as one looks through the main living space space to the kitchen. The ceilings and columns are stripped to bring the industrial space back to its most elemental state. The blackened steel canopy and blackened steel doors were designed to complement the raw wood and wrought iron columns of the stripped space. Salvaged materials such as reclaimed barn wood for the counters and reclaimed marble slabs in the master bathroom were used to enhance the industrial feel of the space.

Hollywood Regency- Turnberry Ocean Colony Sunny Isles, Fl http://Www.dkorinteriors.com A family of snowbirds hired us to design their South Floridian getaway inspired by old Hollywood glamor. Film, repetition, reflection and symmetry are some of the common characteristics of the interiors in this particular era. This carried through to the design of the apartment through the use of rich textiles such as velvets and silks, ornate forms, bold patterns, reflective surfaces such as glass and mirrors, and lots of bright colors with high-gloss white moldings throughout. In this introduction you’ll see the general molding design and furniture layout of each space.The ceilings in this project get special treatment – colorful patterned wallpapers are found within the applied moldings and crown moldings throughout each room. The elevator vestibule is the Sun Room – you arrive in a bright head-to-toe yellow space that foreshadows what is to come. The living room is left as a crisp white canvas and the doors are painted Tiffany blue for contrast. The girl’s room is painted in a warm pink and accented with white moldings on walls and a patterned glass bead wallpaper above. The boy’s room has a more subdued masculine theme with an upholstered gray suede headboard and accents of royal blue. Finally, the master suite is covered in a coral red with accents of pearl and white but it’s focal point lies in the grandiose white leather tufted headboard wall

This great-room incorporates the living, dining , kitchen as well as access to the back patio. It is the perfect place for entertaining and relaxing. We restored the floors to their original warm tone and used lots of warm neutrals to answer our client’s desire for a more masculine feeling home. A Chinese cabinet and custom-built bookcase help to define an entry hall where one does not exist. We completely remodeled the kitchen and it is now very open and inviting. A Caesarstone counter with an overhang for eating or entertaining allows for three comfortable bar stools for visiting while cooking. Stainless steal appliances and a white apron sink are the only features that still remain. A large contemporary art piece over the new dining banquette brings in a splash of color and rounds out the space. Lots of earth-toned fabrics are part of this overall scheme. The kitchen, dining and living rooms have light cabinetry and walls with accent color in the tile and fireplace stone. The home has lots of added storage for books, art and accessories. In the living room, comfortable upholstered pieces with casual fabrics were created and sit atop a sisal rug, giving the room true California style. For contrast, a dark metal drapery rod above soft white drapery panels covers the new French doors. The doors lead out to the back patio. Photography by Erika Bierman

The client loves entertaining so it was essential that the dining table was part of the open kitchen. Several slabs of granite threaded with iron pyrite or ‘fool’s gold’ as it is commonly known, were chosen for this striking, bespoke dining table and the same stone has been used for the worktops and splash backs, linking the zones and taking kitchen dining to smart heights. Columns clad in antiqued bronze mirrors and bronzed diffuser glass ‘chandelier’ pick up the golden streaks in the granite, dimmers create mood lighting for the dining zone. 2 wine coolers house the client’s collection of fine wines. Woven leather and dark metal chairs are by Henge.

The dining room has plenty of seating to comfortably fit 8 people. It is accented with custom molding and artwork to finish the look. The colour palette unifies the main floor with maintaining a clean look.

Clifton, the designer, chooses furniture in walnut brown to create a masculine and tasteful ambience for this project. Since the owner often goes traveling and has a collection of deco from all over the world, especially wall paintings. So, he wants a home design that is both practical and unique to reveal his personality and being design as a stylish hotel suite.  Clifton also adapts a sliding door and raised platform to separate the sleeping/ living area and cooking/ dining area. The design is flexible and practical since the owner wants maximum space in such a small area. So, he requires minimal design with the maximum space created. Dark walnut color is selected as the theme color to portray a timeless metropolitan look. The flower arrangement with a dash of green and white, together with the artistic and colorful painting help to spice up the entire environment. The white wall also works well to break the monotony of the dark brown hues. The wooden blinds by the entrance, in walnut brown, are unconventional, to conform to the overall look and feel of the design. The oriental wooden chairs by the entrance infuses well with the overall metropolitan design of the flat. This is a perfect blend of “east meets west”. Entrance The kitchen design is characterized by simple design, minimalism and functionality. Finest materials and appliances are selected to match with the overall modern design. In line with the minimalistic design, built-in washing machine works magic to create an uncluttered kitchen space. The kitchen drawers are created with meticulous details, where cutleries can be conveniently categorized. A sliding door is in place to separate the bedroom/living room and the dining area. The door can be fully opened to create a combined space for friends’ gathering if needed. Different floor treatments are used to define the living and dining areas. Drawers under the bed offer extra storage and maximize the utilization of space. The color tone and material of the furniture in the living area matches with that of the dining room – in hues of black and dark brown. The beige carpet and light chestnut flooring blend well with the furniture to offset the monochromic tonality and create a calm and restful feel. The mood lighting at the ceiling further enhances the homey ambience. A grey washroom evokes a sophisticated, calming, and uplifting feeling, which offers a private oasis for owners to relax after a day of hectic work.
