Mid-sized transitional master dark wood floor bedroom photo in New York with blue walls and no fireplace

Mixing Modern with Traditional: Rowayton Home

Transitional Bedroom, New York

There was no place for heavy draperies in this cozy seaside home. Plantation shutters better fit the mood and space. A custom headboard and bedskirt remove the need for a space guzzling footboard and keep the look clean and simple. The color scheme is monochromatic blue/grays except for a splash of orange here and there.

My suggestion would be not to go with a double hung shutter as pictured above but to install single panels with a center divider rail. All shutter should be custom orders. You may find a local dealer at www.graberblinds.com. They will be able to connect you with a local dealer in your area and that dealer should provide a complimentary design consultation, Good luck!

Yes they were custom and they were not composite.

Light wall color. Boys room perhaps?
