- My Wife collects the Iittala birds like this and I have struggled to com up with ideas how to best display them. This is a great idea and would like to know how the shelves were made? Some of the birds a quite heavey (and expensive). They seem to be just floating there.
Glad to receive any information.
The shelves are 1/4" think aluminum plate which slide into a 1/4" gap between the walnut boards. The substrate behind the walnut is plywood painted black. It's a very simple system. Shelves could be tacked in place with silicone if needed = this isn't a design solution you'd want to use in places that have earthquakes (we don't in Houston).
Figuratively Speaking 3. I can’t help but love interiors that take a natural scene and reinterpret it as a room scheme....
