Can you tell me about the columns? are they steel with wood 2Xs attached to them? or painted wood and stained wood fins?
  • longhorn6
Good guess. Yes, the columns are square tube steel with 1x6 ipe (Brazillian "teak") attached to the sides.

Not at all, Crissey. This duplex was built for approximately $130/sf back in 2009. I state the year because prices have gone up and I would imagine it would cost more like $140-150/sf today. Glad you like it!

This is a custom single family home. If you would like to hear or see more information on this home, I suggest that you visit the architect's site or contact them directly through their professional profile on Houzz.

The wood siding is simply 1x6 cedar, stained. It does require maintenance as all wood does but cedar wears better than most. It will turn grey unless you re-stain it every couple of years. You can gain a few more years if the super intense Texas sun isn't hitting it all the time - using shading devices and such.

The main part of the house (living spaces) are 22' wide but the garage sticks out from that and adds another 21'.

We applied 1x4 T&G cedar boards to a standard aluminum garage door with adhesive and stained it. Glad you like it!

It's a mix of native Texas limestone which is comprised of equal amounts of white, brown and blue/grey limestone colors. The horizontal bands is a 4" tall blue/grey limestone.
