Old Fashioned Bathroom
In this master bathroom we kept old floor plan. Instead of the old big corner bath tub, we installed claw foot tub.

This was the home's master bedroom. It was quite small, but I was excited that this 100-year-old home had a master bath at all! The entire thing was blue. We yanked the old blue floor tiles and replaced them with this mosaic Carrara marble tile. As for the tile surrounding the tub and shower, we had it sprayed white, since it was in good condition. This cost about $300. A pedestal sink and medicine cabinet were added, as well as a cute, small chandelier and beadboard. The skylight above the bathtub provided natural light and helped to open up this small space.

This full refurbishment boasts rooms with beautiful proportions and high ceilings. The owners required formal entertaining space and this provided us the perfect opportunity to create a truly bespoke interior. We sourced exquisite antiques, one off pieces and custom-made designs. A handful of key design pieces are peppered throughout the house. To fully reflect our clients’ tastes we added an eclectic combination of old and new furniture for an interesting visual mix, creating an interior that feels timelessly elegant and welcoming.

Holleder and FIve, the couple's 9-year-old twin boys, share a room as do the other four children. "We knew we wanted our kids to share rooms, so that was a huge design element", says Cortney. "We think it is important that they learn how to work with others, so even our boys share a big dormitory style bathroom."
In order to keep the center of the room open, Robert and Cortney placed the boys' beds toe-to-toe along one wall. In true Novogratz fashion, the beds are inexpensive frames from IKEA that received a treatment of custom upholstery.

Built in the early 1900s, this brownstone’s 83-square-foot bathroom had seen better days. Upgrades like a furniture-style vanity and oil-rubbed bronze faucetry preserve its vintage feel while adding modern functionality.

After all, it was a basement, so we used bright colors and plenty of lighting to make up for the lack of natural light. Yes, we performed the design work and the construction.
