    Looks like about 4 feet.

42 inches seemed about right for my island. Dytecture is right about the extra steps.

Thank you. It was kind of a pain but Im very happy with it. Expect to pay an extra $1.50/sqft for a change in layout from your installer. I think its worth it though.

Standard width is approx 41" but in our kitchen we designed a 48" walkway around our large island. We did this because we have 36" wide fridge and freezer units to accommodate the door swing and leave plenty of room to perhaps squeeze by, open a drawer on the island.

From what Ican see this is a beaded inset door style (door is flush with frame of cabinet) and the door has a molding applied where the door frame and panel meet. Plato Woodwork has a door called the Bergen or the Tahoe that are very similar. Here's a picture of a project we did a few years ago.

here is a close up of that style. This shows it with exposed hinges but you can do it with fully concealed hinges like you see in your photo. You can alos do it with out the bead on the face frame. it's hard to tell from your photo if the face frame is beaded or not.

The granite looks dark brown in your photo...we have seen this in person and looks very black...in certain lights does this look black to you? or maybe the brown tones you have in the backsplash might bring out the brown in the granite?

Keep changes minimal. Depending on how far along in the process you are, change orders can be anything from a mild nuisance to a major issue. Not only will they hold up progress, but they'll also put a dent in your wallet. That said, if there's a change that must be made for you to enjoy and use your revamped kitchen the way you intend, it's better to speak up than to end up dealing with the flaw on a daily basis.

Kristy Woodson Harvey and Beth Woodson added this to The Draw of Bar PullsFeb 15, 2012

The majority of bar pulls are stainless, but polished brass pulls can be beautiful, especially in a more traditional kitchen. And since every room needs a touch of black, you could try a bar pull in black or even bronze.
