Console table - Beautiful renovation. I adore the table under the stairs on the left and have been looking for one just like it. Would you be able to share the source? Thanks!

The color of everything is Benjamin Moore's Gray Owl. We used it everywhere, except the ceiling which is a little lighter. The trim was in a satin sheen. Hope that helps!

There is such a vast amount of whites its close to impossible to guess plus each manufacturer makes its own blends of whites as well, as a contractor I would never make that guess as it could be a costly mistake

Good morning,

The wall color is Benjamin Moore's 'Gray Owl' OC-52 in an eggshell sheen. We used the same color on the trim and mantel in a satin sheen. The ceiling is Benjamin Moore's 'Pure White' OC-64 in a flat sheen. Hope that helps, Leigha

The furniture was selected by Benjamin Dhong Interiors. The chairs are from Serena and Lily. The armchairs are the Pacific Armchairs and the side chairs Chevron Riveria Side Chairs. Hope that helps!

It's a classic Seagrass carpet. I love natural fibers and how relaxed and elegant it makes a room. It's particularly hearty and can take a beating. We custom sized it by our flooring rep

Thank you Ben. I really like how it lightened up the darker tone of the hardwood floors. Nice selection as always! Very simple and not overdone.

Thank you! It was a piece the owner already had. It's an oil painting. I'm checking with her now for more info...

Floor plan - I struggle with furniture placement in a room like this. I like this arrangement. Why place chairs facing away from fireplace though? I feel tied to having to have them face the fireplace and it is making the arrangement difficult.

I can understand your concern, but rest assured that this is actually a very common arrangement at a fireplace because it creates invitation into the room and allows for easy socializing. Hope that helps!

We did the space plan for this room.

I hate walking into rooms and having every single chair face the tv if it can be avoided

We tried to create conversation areas with the furniture. Adding swivel chair or light enough to move for flexibility

It's a large wall and it faced to garden so I knew we wanted to reflect the garden.

I also wanted something large enough to anchor the breakfast area...making it it's own space

This large cog mirror from restoration hardware was the perfect choice!

It's so awesome in the room. It's a really strong focal point on that wall and gives the room some soul. Such a great choice Ben! Thank you!

The mantel was designed by myself, and fabricated by J. Spix Fine Cabinets along with the rest of the cabinetry on this project. It was not a pre-fab wood mantel, but I know there a lot of of beautiful ones on the market now. Hope that helps! Leigha

We used Bardiglio Marble- Honed on the fireplace surround. We installed it on a slight angle to give it some dimension. Hope that helps!

Apologies for the late reply. I don't believe you will find a fireplace with doors like this being sold today, as these types of fireplaces are no longer code compliant in CA. We were able to keep it because it was already there. Hope that helps.

Are you referring to the yellow club chairs by the fireplace? They were chairs the owner already had which the interior designer, Benjamin Dhong reupholstered. Hope that helps!

What Houzz contributors are saying:

Becky Harris added this to Kitchen of the Week: Classic Style Creates Calm for a Busy Family
AFTER: Heydt redesigned the fireplace surround with beautiful honed Bardiglio marble, giving it a cleaner look. After removing the built-in cabinet underneath the window to the right of the fireplace, she extended a new window lower to match those along the adjacent wall. These kinds of architectural moves help the room feel more cohesive.Gone is the built-in TV cabinet in the corner — the placement of the TV made it hard to watch comfortably. Heydt replaced it with a custom armoire with antiqued glass panels, scaled to balance out the window on the other side of fireplace. A TV is hidden inside on a swing arm that can be angled out for the best viewing. Baskets and the closet on the staircase are used for stashing toys and games. The staircase closet also houses all of the media equipment. The homeowners already owned the lovely painting over the mantel. “It looks as though we designed the room to match the painting, but it was a happy coincidence,” the designer says. Wall paint: Gray Owl, Benjamin Moore; Celestial Cloud ceramic stool in white: Clayton Gray Home; throw pillow on hostess chair: Glowing Moonphase, Anthropologie; Gold Plume pitcher: Anthropologie; Parsons reclaimed-oak dining table: Restoration Hardware
