Thanks for asking! I am not a mason, but the mason who built this patio used aged brick (which has it's own set of challenges) and laid the brick on a cement base of about 1 foot. The spacing you see is mortar. It is a beautiful look, but was expensive to achieve. Because it is aged brick - it is very porous - so we have it power washed at least twice a summer. Hope this helps!

The fireplace is a wood burning fireplace - there is no gas value. Thanks for asking!

This screen was purchased at a yard sale in NJ. I really don't know where you might find a similar one. I bought it because it was so unique and found a use for it when this fireplace was built. Thanks for asking.

Thanks for asking! Generally, the fire burns cleaning and the smoke flows upward quite well. But we have had some occasions (windy days) where we will get a downdraft and some smoke can blow toward the sitting area. We are considering adding one more foot to the chimney, as well as adding one more course of brick to the opening. Hope this helps.

The lattice is custom but easily built. It is not tongue & groove so it is easy to build. Footers were set and then we added the lattice and finally painted.
