Trendy home design photo in Sydney

outdoor entertaining space

Contemporary, Sydney

Christmas in Australia falls in Summer so we like to be outside - unless it's scorching hot. For the challenge I didn't want to spend any money so used what I had around the house to pull together a tablescape for 10 people. I planned to do a kids table too but ran out of time and patience... We would be sitting outside - our courtyard is quite private and would be perfect for a lunch as the sun doesn't pour into it until the later afternoon (like when these pictures were taken, hence the overexposure!) This picture: And here is the tinsel... Simple white plates (I have a heap of them - different makes and sizes, but all the same colour so easy to mix and match), white napkins (some of the other settings had grey - I made sure the colourway went with what I had at home already in terms of fabrics and napery) and simple stainless steel cutlery is dressed up with a tinsel pom pom. I simply snipped off a piece of white tinsel, twisted the ends of the cut wires and tied the whole thing together with a bit of embroidery thread. Easy, Christmassy and decorative.
