I also like the cabinet color. I was thinking the same thing about the color of the cabinets. I think I would still use Clary Sage, but only at 20% of the paint color.

Definitely do a test patch on a large piece of poster board. Make sure to cover all of the white so the color won't be distorted. Hold the paper against the floor and your cabinets to see if it'll work in your kitchen.

    S&w Clary Sage

Pardon my question and maybe the photo color is off on my Monitor but the cabinets in these photos don't appear to be SW Clary Sage. I'm only questioning it because I am thinking of painting my kitchen island that Clary Sage. Can you please clarify? Love the kitchen by the way :)

6. Victorian redux. Paired with minty green cabinetry, marble counters and brass rod and ball pendant lights, this William Morris floral-patterned wallpaper bridges the gap between old and new in a renovated 1905 Victorian kitchen. While you wouldn’t want to leave wallpaper uncovered in the kitchen near the sink or stove, it can hold up surprisingly well on an adjacent wall when properly installed.See more of this kitchen makeoverWallpaper: Pimpernel in Bayleaf/Manilla, Morris & Co.

4. Wallpaper. Most homeowners wouldn’t dream of putting wallpaper in a kitchen for fear of food splatters and grease ruining it. But as long as you’re not using wallpaper as a backsplash (if you do, make sure it’s covered by glass), it can make for a great feature wall, as shown here in a Texas kitchen.Cabinet paint: Clary Sage, Sherwin-Williams; hardware: Mulholland, Amerock; wallpaper: Pimpernel in Bayleaf Manilla, Morris & Co.; Hood classic globe pendants: RejuvenationSee more of this kitchen

Neutral colors define U.S. and Canadian kitchens too, where white cabinets and beige and gray walls are preferred, according to the survey. But green, such as the minty shade shown here, and blue are creeping in. “I think green edges out blue in kitchens because it’s the more organic, appetizing color of the two,” says Jennifer Ott, an interior designer who specializes in paint consultations. “Plus, there’s such a push now to eat unprocessed, healthy whole foods that I think people are drawn to having a vegetal hue in the space,” she adds. “My other theory is that we live in pretty stressful, trying times and green is thought to be a happy hue, unlike blue and gray. Yet it’s not as high-energy as the other happy hues of yellow and orange. So green is a nice compromise between happy yet soothing and stress-relieving.”

AFTER: New cabinets go all the way to the ceiling to maximize storage. Their country style honors the rural Texas town of Moulton, where the Kloesels reside, as well as the style of the home. “The previous kitchen definitely didn’t,” Stacey says. Paneled appliances also help keep an authentic look. “We didn’t want to see any stainless steel in here,” she says. She showed the homeowners an option for white cabinets and an option for minty green, secretly hoping they’d go for the latter. “Luckily they went with green,” she says. “Diana is really cool in that she takes big design risks. It’s a lot of fun to work with someone like that.”Removing the pantry added the window on the right, but it also created a large blank wall with which to contend. Instead of painting such a large surface area, they decided to go with a floral patterned wallpaper that fit with other wallpaper and ornate furniture throughout the house.
