This media room was designed to be simple yet highly enjoyable. It features a large formate LED Television, 7.2 surround sound system with Leon Soundbar, JL Audio Subwoofers, and in-wall/in-ceiling speakers. The theater is connected to the home automation system giving it the ability to share video content throughout the home and be controlled simply and effectively with the touch of a remote button.

The Solar System inspired toddler's room is filled with hand-painted and ceiling suspended planets, moons, asteroids, comets, and other exciting objects.

A great integration system seamlessly manages a multitude of systems intelligently and automatically while requiring an absolute minimum of user prompting to create repeatable environmental and entertainment scenes which they enjoy. This project required 21 zones of digital audio, 12 zones of HD video with access to 7 sources ranging from multiple HD Cable Boxes, Surveillance Cameras, Blu-Ray DVD, dual Satellite Radio tuners and Apple TV. This systems cornerstone of operation is the NetStreams DigiLinx integration system which boasts IP based audio for CD quality sound while incorporating complete property intercom, paging and door chimes. Lutron Homeworks lighting control manages the exterior and interior lighting which we designed to showcase this homes best features. Several interior spaces required Lurton’s Sivoia silent operating motorized shades for privacy and ambient light control. Numerous cameras keep a vigilant eye on the entire property. Viewing cameras or operating any of the homes Entertainment, Lighting or Technology Systems can be accomplished through iPhone, iPads, fixed touch screens, handheld remotes from URC and computer. Our favorite integration features include the ability to instantly launch music for the patio from Lutron Homeworks seeTouch controllers located at patio egress and simple to operate handheld remotes for owners and their guests.

Our clients live in a country club community and were looking to renovate their unfinished basement. The client knew he wanted to include a gym, theater, and gaming center. We incorporated a Home Automation system for this project, providing for music playback, movie watching, lighting control, and security integration. Our challenges included a short construction deadline and several structural issues. The original basement had a floor-to-ceiling height of 8’-0” with several columns running down the center of the basement that interfered with the seating area of the theater. Our design/build team installed a second beam adjacent to the original to help distribute the load, enabling the removal of columns. The theater had a water meter projecting a foot out from the front wall. We retrofitted a piece of A/V acoustically treated furniture to hide the meter and gear. This homeowner originally planned to include a putting green on his project, until we demonstrated a Visual Sports Golf Simulator. The ceiling height was two feet short of optimal swing height for a simulator. Our client was committed, we excavated the corner of the basement to lower the floor. To accent the space, we installed a custom mural printed on carpet, based upon a photograph from the neighboring fairway of the client’s home. By adding custom high-impact glass walls, partygoers can join in on the fun and watch the action unfold while the sports enthusiasts can view the party or ball game on TV! The Visual Sports system allows guests and family to not only enjoy golf, but also sports such as hockey, baseball, football, soccer, and basketball. We overcame the structural and visual challenges of the space by using floor-to-glass walls, removal of columns, an interesting mural, and reflective floor surfaces. The client’s expectations were exceeded in every aspect of their project, as evidenced in their video testimonial and the fact that all trades were invited to their catered Open House! The client enjoys his golf simulator so much he had tape on five of his fingers and his wife informed us he has formed two golf leagues! This project transformed an unused basement into a visually stunning space providing the client the ultimate fun get-a-away!

A/V Equipment racks houses all the Audio, Video, Lighting, Shade, Security and Automation system Electronics. The in-wall tablet mount provides easy access to all the system apps. Below the tablet is a Lutron QS keypad used to access lighting scenes and shade operation.

Inspiration for a living room remodel in San Francisco

Location: Nantucket, MA, USA This classic Nantucket home had not been renovated in several decades and was in serious need of an update. The vision for this summer home was to be a beautiful, light and peaceful family retreat with the ability to entertain guests and extended family. The focal point of the kitchen is the La Canche Chagny Range in Faience with custom hood to match. We love how the tile backsplash on the Prep Sink wall pulls it all together and picks up on the spectacular colors in the White Princess Quartzite countertops. In a nod to traditional Nantucket Craftsmanship, we used Shiplap Panelling on many of the walls including in the Kitchen and Powder Room. When deciding to either keep a tub and shower or take out the tub and expand the shower in the master bathroom is solely dependent on a homeowner's preference. Although having a tub in the master bathroom is still a desired feature for home buyer's, especially for those who have or are excepting children, there's no definitive proof that having a tub is going to guarantee a higher rate of return on the investment. This chic and modern shower is easily accessible. The expanded room provides the ability to move around freely without constraint and makes showering more welcoming and relaxing. This shower is a great addition and can be highly beneficial in the future to any individuals who are elderly, wheelchair bound or have mobility impairments. Fixtures and furnishings such as the grab bar, a bench and hand shower also makes the shower more user friendly. The decision to take out the tub and make the shower larger has visually transformed this master bathroom and created a spacious feel. The shower is a wonderful upgrade and has added value and style to our client's beautiful home. Check out the before and after photographs as well as the video! Nestled into sloping topography, the design of this home allows privacy from the street while providing unique vistas throughout the house and to the surrounding hill country and downtown skyline. Layering rooms with each other as well as circulation galleries, insures seclusion while allowing stunning downtown views. The owners' goals of creating a home with a contemporary flow and finish while providing a warm setting for daily life was accomplished through mixing warm natural finishes such as stained wood with gray tones in concrete and local limestone. The home's program also hinged around using both passive and active green features. Sustainable elements include geothermal heating/cooling, rainwater harvesting, spray foam insulation, high efficiency glazing, recessing lower spaces into the hillside on the west side, and roof/overhang design to provide passive solar coverage of walls and windows. The resulting design is a sustainably balanced, visually pleasing home which reflects the lifestyle and needs of the clients. Photography by Andrew Pogue
