While the Den was originally designed to transition to the Screened Porch by only a bank of windows and a single door, we made the decision to remove the entire wall and in its place install a grand set of six glass sliding doors which gives not only a greater connection with the outdoors but also the flexibility of opening the two spaces to each other during the warmer months. The concept for the heart of the home begins with a monochromatic color scheme comproised of soft, warm neutrals covering comfortable timeless furnishings all contrasted by vibrant hues of kelly green with splashes of a sunny yellow. The earth textures emerge from a dark, hand scraped wood floor grounding the space for the layering on top of natural linens and cottons of the seating, a sisal rug under foor, raw wood found over head in lighting and solid oak beams with a focal point of a cast limestone fireplace all creating a timeless environment for the family's taste to evolve over the many years to come. Mirror was used on the backsplash to reflect the light back into the space. Floating shelves were included for alcohol storage. Below that, more shallow depth cabinets were included for extra bottles, mixers, wine openers, etc. A wine refrigerator was recessed into the wall.

Huge re-model including taking ceiling from a flat ceiling to a complete transformation. Bamboo custom cabinetry was given a grey stain, mixed with walnut strip on the bar and the island given a different stain. Huge amounts of storage from deep pan corner drawers, roll out trash, coffee station, built in refrigerator, wine and alcohol storage, appliance garage, pantry and appliance storage, the amounts go on and on. Floating shelves with a back that just grabs the eye takes this kitchen to another level. The clients are thrilled with this huge difference from their original space.

A young family moving from NYC to their first home in Westchester County found this delightful colonial in Larchmont New York. Studio Dearborn teamed up with Classic Construction Group to redesign space. They stole four feet from the adjacent family room to accommodate a new, classic white kitchen open to the family room. The island is crafted from Rift sawn oak in a custom charcoal stain. White Macauba countertops give a soft earthy ambiance to the room. Cherner style stools are walnut veneer.
