AFTER For this 1927 ART DECO Hollywood home, much attention was given to every detail when replacing the old kitchen. KGD decided to keep the original layout, the glass block windows, and the banquette area. We selected a porcelain floor tile which flows perfectly with the original floors of the house.. We custom designed a tray ceiling, with new square LED recessed lighting, to conceal all the new electrical work and to align the new appliance towers. To enhance the room, we added two Art Deco pendant lights and a rare Cuban mahogany starburst table with polished steel base. And, a pair of 1930s chrome dining chairs were upholstered in white leatherette. Green granite counters were carefully selected to accompany the “vinyl ostrich” banquette seating. Miele appliances were used throughout with custom white lacquer cabinetry with chrome streamlined hardware. For the backsplash, we created an Art Deco mosaic pattern of stone and glass which is lit by LED under counter lighting.

This basement kitchen is given new life as a modern bar with quartz countertop, navy blue cabinet doors, satin brass edge pulls, a beverage fridge, pull out faucet with matte black finish. The backsplash is patterned 8x8 tiles with a walnut wood shelf. The space was painted matte white, the ceiling popcorn was scraped off, painted and installed with recessed lighting. Our client came to us loving the black and white color tones of the Art Deco design style, and wanted to update the materials of their Bathroom to be low-maintenance and have their shower be easily accessible for future living-in place. The bathroom gets a lot of natural daylight, and they felt the existing white walls made the room feel too bright, so a rich deep blue was used to balance the lighting in the room. Featured is a low-threshold shower, Corian shower pan, tiled shower walls with black inlay in a timeless Art Deco-styled pattern, LVT stone-look flooring, corian stone-look countertop with integrated sink, new brushed nickel sink faucet, new brushed nickel shower plumbing (fixed shower head, hand-held shower on slide bar, grab bar). Home bar - transitional home bar idea in San Francisco

Originally a fireplace, we remodeled the kitchen to include an inset bar in rich macassar ebony and lined Flavor Paper’s Monaco gold foil wallpaper. The bar includes a mini fridge and wine refrigerator for easy access to beverages.

The client wanted a bigger shower, so we changed the existing floor plan and made there small tiny shower into an arched and more usable open storage closet concept, while opting for a combo shower/tub area. We incorporated art deco features and arches as you see in the floor tile, shower niche, and overall shape of the new open closet.

Turned an empty, unused formal living room into a hip bourbon bar and library lounge for a couple who relocated to DFW from Louisville, KY. They wanted a place they could entertain friends or just hang out and relax with a cocktail or a good book. We added the wet bar and library shelves, and kept things modern and warm, with a wink to the prohibition era. The formerly deserted room is now their favorite spot.
