http://www.cookarchitectural.com Perched on wooded hilltop, this historical estate home was thoughtfully restored and expanded, addressing the modern needs of a large family and incorporating the unique style of its owners. The design is teeming with custom details including a porte cochère and fox head rain spouts, providing references to the historical narrative of the site’s long history.

Photography by Eduard Hueber / archphoto North and south exposures in this 3000 square foot loft in Tribeca allowed us to line the south facing wall with two guest bedrooms and a 900 sf master suite. The trapezoid shaped plan creates an exaggerated perspective as one looks through the main living space space to the kitchen. The ceilings and columns are stripped to bring the industrial space back to its most elemental state. The blackened steel canopy and blackened steel doors were designed to complement the raw wood and wrought iron columns of the stripped space. Salvaged materials such as reclaimed barn wood for the counters and reclaimed marble slabs in the master bathroom were used to enhance the industrial feel of the space.

Bringing Aman’s eastern roots to New York, Nama restaurant celebrates the Japanese washoku dining tradition with authentic and elegant dishes, featuring also a Hinoki wood counter for omakase fine dining experiences. In dialogue with the exclusive atmosphere of the interiors, can be found in the wall artworks in ceramics by Angela Palmarelli and in oak wood by Pascal Oudet, dedicated to the narration of nature's secret code organised in a subtle and profound form.

This striking staircase combines raw materiality with a sense of openness and flow. A reclaimed-style brickslip feature wall runs the full height of the stairwell, bringing warmth, texture, and heritage character into the space. The hand-forged look of the matte black industrial handrail adds authenticity and contrast against the earthy red tones of the brick. From this angle, the open riser staircase reveals its true architectural strength—allowing light to travel freely between levels and reinforcing the visual connection with the rest of the home. Dark-stained timber treads, softened with integrated grip mats, give the stairwell a grounded, durable feel while complementing the surrounding wooden floors. Vertical black balustrades add rhythm and balance to the design, echoing the Crittall-style glazing seen in adjacent rooms. This combination of openness, texture, and industrial styling makes the staircase not just a functional element, but a central feature in the home’s design narrative.
