With overwhelming support by the community who dug deep and donated, the 2018 Central Valley St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway successfully raised $957,100 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! Since 2007, De Young Properties has been a major donor and builder of 12 St. Jude Dream Homes, helping to raise $11,628,545 to help the kids of St. Jude fight cancer and other life-threatening childhood diseases. One hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which works around the clock to develop cures to save the lives of boys and girls, including children in the San Joaquin Valley.
“We strongly believe in our responsibility to help others, which is why the St. Jude’s Dream Home Giveaway is so important to us and our entire De Young team. We are grateful to our community’s continued support of our business – a community that has given so much to us, which is why we are so passionate about giving back. In fact, we are even more passionate today than we were in 2007 when we first partnered with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We are honored to be a donor and builder of our 12th St. Jude Dream Home in this war against childhood cancer. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital positively affects the lives of families across the country, in addition to giving us the opportunity to change the life of a local family,” said Paula De Young of De Young Properties. “This amazing pediatric research center, that not only treats life threatening cases in children, also freely gives guidance to doctors around the world and here in the Central Valley. We count ourselves fortunate to be able to help such an important cause”
The 2018 St. Jude Dream Home is one of the most popular De Young floorplans, the Residence 210 with a beautiful Cottage elevation, and will offer three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a formal dining room, spacious den and an open-air courtyard with a gorgeous stone accented fireplace.
With celebrity designer, Michael Moloney, donating his design talent and resources once again as Design Ambassador for this year’s St. Jude Dream Home, the home boasts a long list of special features, including fashionable quartz and granite counters from Granite Mountain Stone Design, premium designer maple cabinetry and professional closet design from KraftMaid Cabinetry and stainless steel Bosch appliances with a gas range, washer, dryer and built-in refrigerator. In addition, premium-grade wood-look porcelain tile floors by Shaw Floors, spacious 10’ ceilings, professional and water efficient front and back yard landscaping, and Energy Star approved Eagle Brand Cool Roof Tile.
The prime Clovis location of the St. Jude Dream Home is in the De Young Trailside at Loma Vista community which is within walking distance to Reagan Educational Center and located within the greater 3,300-acre Loma Vista master-planned community designed by the City of Clovis. In addition, it is a short drive from Clovis Community Medical Center and a variety of entertainment and dining options including the Sierra Vista Mall, The Square at Campus Pointe, Old Town Clovis and even Wild Water Adventure Park. Easy access to Highway 168 and Herndon Avenue can provide a fast work commute during the week and a family outing to Shaver or Huntington lakes on the weekend and even more.
De Young Properties would like to once again thank everyone in the community who contributed their hard-earned dollars to this worthy cause. They are appreciative of everyone who donated, volunteered or purchased a ticket to win this year’s St. Jude Dream Home, and feel privileged to be able to help such an important cause.

Recently, TaskRabbit challenged a group of 10 Taskers to build a Tiny House in the middle of Manhattan in just 72 hours – all for a good cause.
Building a fully outfitted tiny house in 3 days was a tall order – a build like this often takes months – but we set out to prove the power of collaboration, showing the kind of progress that can be made when people come together, bringing their best insights, skills and creativity to achieve something that seems impossible.
It was quite a week. New York was wonderful (and quite lovely, despite a bit of rain), our Taskers were incredible, and TaskRabbit’s Tiny House came together in record time, due to the planning, dedication and hard work of all involved.
A Symbol for Change
The TaskRabbit Tiny House was auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going to our partner, Community Solutions, a national nonprofit helping communities take on complex social challenges – issues like homelessness, unemployment and health inequity – through collaboration and creative problem solving. This Tiny House was envisioned as a small symbol of the change that is possible when people have the right tools and opportunities to work together. Through our three-day build, our Taskers proved that amazing things can happen when we put our hearts into creating substantive change in our communities.
The Winning Bid
We’re proud to report that we were able to raise $26,600 to support Community Solutions’ work. Sarah, a lovely woman from New Hampshire, placed the winning bid – and it’s nice to know our tiny home is in good hands.
#ATinyTask: Behind the Scenes
The Plans
A lot of time and effort went into making sure this Tiny Home was as efficient, cozy and welcoming as possible. Our master planners, designer Lesley Morphy and TaskRabbit Creative Director Scott Smith, maximized every square inch in the little house with comfort and style in mind, utilizing a lofted bed, lofted storage, a floor-to-ceiling tiled shower, a compost toilet, and custom details throughout. There’s a surprising amount of built-in storage in the kitchen, while a conscious decision was made to keep the living space open so you could actually exist comfortably without feeling cramped.
The Build
Our Taskers worked long, hard shifts while our team made sure they were well fed, hydrated and in good spirits. The team brought amazing energy and we couldn’t be prouder of the way they worked together. Stay tuned, as we’ll be highlighting more of our Tiny House Taskers’ stories in coming days – they were so great that we want to make sure all of you get to know them better.
The Final Product
Behold, the completed Tiny House! For more photos, be sure to check out our Facebook page.
This was an incredibly inspiring project, and we really enjoyed watching the Tiny House come to life right in the middle of Manhattan. It was amazing to see what our Taskers are capable of, and we’re so glad we were able to support Community Solutions and help fight homelessness, unemployment and health inequity with #ATinyTask.

Framed by mature trees and nestled within Sarasota’s historic McClellan Park, Sunset Place is a home shaped by a deep understanding of, and sensibility for, its setting—reflecting the charm of the neighborhood, the rhythm of downtown living, and the client’s vision of entertaining, connection, and family life. Every decision—from site strategy to spatial flow—was made with intention: to support a lifestyle centered on warmth, community, and a strong sense of place.
At its core, the project is a masterclass in leveraging zoning and code to unlock the full potential of a complex site. Though landlocked, the home lives like waterfront—offering openness, privacy, and expansive sunset views. Placing the pool in the front yard, within the 25-foot setback, redefines the entry experience. It captures the western light and sets a relaxed, resort-like tone from the very first step inside the gate. Paired with a rear-loaded garage, accessed discreetly via the side setback, the layout transforms the site’s limitations into its greatest assets. Architecture and landscape take center stage, while the full buildable envelope is maximized without compromise.
A natural rise of eight feet from front to back—rare in Sarasota—was embraced as an opportunity. Site walls function as both retaining structures and architectural elements, elevating the pool terrace and entry by over four feet to align with the main interior floor level. The result is a fluid connection between indoors and out: kitchen, dining, and living spaces unfold onto the terrace, blurring boundaries and enhancing everyday rituals as well as social gatherings.
Architecturally, the home is coastal contemporary: open yet composed, airy yet grounded. Clarity in the massing tells a story of the inhabitants from the first glance, while the interior planning offers spatial generosity and ease. The interiors echo this sensibility with a palette that is soft, natural, and tactile—serene without being neutral. The landscape design provides a lush tropical frame, softening edges and reinforcing privacy through layered plantings rather than enclosure.
Ultimately, Sunset Place is not defined by any single gesture, but by the way the home reflects its owners. Their gracious, family-centered nature informed every layer of design—resulting in a space that feels deeply personal, tailored for connection and ease, and perfectly suited for gathering, unwinding, and watching the sun slip behind the trees from the comfort of home.
