DHD Crosby Street Loft in SOHO, NYC
The Crosby Street Loft building is located on a cobblestone block in the Soho Cast Iron Historic District. Built in 1882, it was formerly a department store, and converted in 2001 to a 10-unit loft condominium. Our renovation of a second floor loft retains and celebrates many of the original details, including generous, open spaces, 14 foot plus ceiling heights, Corinthian-style columns, and a continuous 120 foot exposed brick wall with integrated archways. The design was a collaborative process, integrating elements discovered on the client’s world travels. Design features include a 12 foot tall glass lounge, two fireplaces, Control4 smart home system, a stone, cold-rolled steel and custom walnut cabinet kitchen and living room, and a luxurious master suite reminiscent of a 5-star hotel.

Natural Nobilia Kitchen in Horsham, West Sussex
A natural kitchen concept was the brief with this recent kitchen design and installation in the Mannings Heath, West Sussex area, and doesn’t it deliver.
With the client’s home recently undergoing a significant single-story extension, the challenge for our Horsham showroom kitchen designer George Harvey was to create a design that makes the most of the spacious new kitchen and living area. With the extension creating a beautiful view of the client’s green garden space and the rolling country-side hills beyond, a natural kitchen dynamic, as the client desired was always a theme that would suit this property.
During the design stage of this project designer George explored a number of textured kitchen options, including stone as well as a number of natural oak shades from German supplier Nobilia. The final scheme for this project combines the medium oak option with stone like worktops in a fantastic combination of two textured finishes.
To meet the client’s brief for this project supplier choice was key. Although situated in a quaint West Sussex village, the contemporary extension that has taken place lends the space more so to a modern style kitchen. With the desired natural aesthetic, furniture from German supplier Nobilia was definitely the most suitable option for this project. Nobilia boast a huge collection of textured kitchens with several wood and stone-based furniture options to choose from. Alongside a great choice of textured ranges, decorative feature units are also plentiful across any kitchen choice – something that the client was keen to include throughout the project.
After assessing various textured options, the client opted for units and cabinetry from the Structura range, which is an all-wood collection featuring light, medium, dark and black oak finishes. This design uses the medium oak option from the Structura range: Sierra Oak, to bring a lovely warm-wood texture to the kitchen and living space. To complement and add further texture Grey Slate Nobilia worktops have been incorporated from the premium Laminate worktop option Xtra. Nobilia Xtra worktops offer enhanced resistance to impact and swelling while remaining a cost effective and visually appealing work surface option.
When we’re not socialising in the kitchen, we’re using appliances to cook, clean or store. So, the functionality of kitchen appliances is an all-important decision when renovating a kitchen space. Appliances from this kitchen are all supplied by Neff. A German supplier with a key emphasis on simplifying tasks for those who both do and don’t like spending time in the kitchen. The appliances chosen for this project are all of high specification, using a combination of N90, N70 and N50 models with an array of useful innovations.
N90 Neff ovens used for this project utilise the iconic Slide & Hide door, but there’s more to these ovens than that. Features like roast assist, pyrolytic cleaning and Home Connect make big tasks simple, with optimum cooking times, easy cleaning options and the ability to control it all via a tablet, mobile phone or home speaker. To boil, steam and fry an 80cm induction hob is included in this kitchen, which features four cooking zones including an expansive flexInduction cooking space. This appliance works in harmony with an integrated extractor that is built-in to cabinetry directly above the hob. Other integrated appliances include full height refrigerator and freezer, both with Nofrost technology as well as an undermounted N50 dishwasher.
Like appliances, kitchen accessories play a vital part in the day-to-day use of the kitchen space, they are also a great way to tailor a kitchen space to the way you want to use it.
A key differential for this project is dual sinks, which have been designed to fulfil the way the client wants to use their space. The larger inset sink is designated to cleaning, tailored to its purpose with a larger bowl and draining area. The second sink and tap are made to be used while cooking or entertaining, with a Quooker boiling tap featuring for simple access to 100°C boiling water. Both sinks are from German supplier Blanco and utilise their composite sink option in the complementary Rock Grey texture.
A great way to create a unique kitchen space is through the use of feature units, and this is something the client was keen to do throughout this project. Throughout the kitchen glazed glass units, exposed units and feature end shelving have all been incorporated to create a distinguishable space. These units have been used to enhance the natural theme, with deep green indoor plants adding to the jungle like aesthetic. The client has even added to sideboard style storage with elegant pink herringbone tiling and a rustic style shelf which is a beautiful kitchen addition.
Another great aspect incorporated into this project is the use of lighting. A vast amount of light comes through the well-designed extension, creating a fantastic airy space throughout the kitchen and living area. But in addition to this, designer George has incorporated an abundance of undercabinet spotlighting and strip lighting which will only look better when natural light vanishes.
For this project an extensive amount of design work has been undertaken including navigating several design combinations and defining a key theme that would dictate the dynamic of the home. Designer George has also done a fantastic job at incorporating all elements of the design brief through the use of unique feature units and natural texture. The client for this project opted for our dry-fit installation option, but we are well equipped to undertake complete kitchen installations with our fully employed team of tradespeople who can even undertake internal building work.
Whether this project has inspired your next kitchen renovation, or you are already looking at a new kitchen space, our designers are always on hand and more than happy to help with your project.

Classic British Kitchen in Haywards Heath, West Sussex
This recent Haywards Heath kitchen project spans three rooms, making the most of classic British-made furnishings for local clients who sought an ‘all under one roof’ renovation solution.
This project is located within Haywards Heath although the property is closer to the picturesque village of Lindfield. The overall brief for this project involved transforming three rooms into a sequence of functional spaces, with a main kitchen area, separate dining and living space as well as a spacious utility area.
To bring the client’s vision to life, a doorway from the kitchen into the dining area has been created to make a flowing passage through the rooms. In addition, our fitting team have undertaken a full flooring improvement, using British Karndean flooring with underfloor heating installed as part of this comprehensive project. Lighting, electrics, and plastering have also taken place where necessary to enhance the final finish of the space.
Kitchen Furniture
The furniture used for this renovation is British made, using traditional carpentry and cabinetry methods. From the Mereway Signature collection, this furniture is most luxurious shaker kitchen option offered by the British kitchen maker, using dovetail joinery and robust craftsmanship for a traditional and long-lasting furniture option. The detail of the Signature collection is best showcased in the detailed shaker frame and elegant cornices that decorate full-height units and wall units. The popular Cashmere colourway has been used throughout furnishings across rooms.
The layout is comprised of two parallel runs with an end run used to house sink and dishwashing facilities. The layout ensures there is plenty of floorspace in the kitchen whilst nicely leading into the next-door dining and living room.
Kitchen Appliances
Across the kitchen Neff appliances feature prominently for a premium specification of appliances. A sizeable Neff flexInduction hob is included with a feature glass extractor for seamless cooking, and notably, dual Neff single ovens. These possess a useful Pyrolytic cleaning ability, turning cooking residue in to ash for simple non-hazardous cleaning.
Another popular inclusion in this kitchen is a built-in Neff microwave. This has been neatly integrated into wall unit furniture, removing the need for small appliances on the worktop. On a similar note, a Quooker boiling tap features above the main sink again removing the need for a traditional kettle. A Neff dishwasher and full-height refrigerator have been integrated into furniture to maintain the kitchen aesthetic.
Kitchen Accessories
A selection of durable and desirable features are showcased throughout this project. Organic White Quartz work surfaces feature throughout the kitchen and utility space, nicely complementing Cashmere furnishings. The end-run area utilises a undermounted stainless steel sink with drainer grooves integrated into the work surface. An integrated bin system is included here for extra convenience.
Another popular feature in this kitchen is the built-in CDA wine cabinet. This model has capacity for twenty wine bottles that are precisely cooled through a regulated temperature control system. To heat the rooms, in keeping full-height radiators have been fitted throughout. In a perfect warming combination, our fitting team have expertly installed underfloor heating and Misty Grey Oak Karndean Flooring throughout the three rooms.
Kitchen Features
Throughout the kitchen area feature and decorative units have been included to create a unique design. Glass fronted wall units have been nicely used to showcase pertinent items and maintain the kitchen theme. Above the wine cabinet a full height exposed unit has been used as a neat and tidy decorative space. Feature storage makes the most of the space available with a full height pull-out storage and plentiful storage throughout. Dovetail joinery and oak finished drawer internals keep stored items neat and tidy whilst providing timeless handcrafted detail.
Kitchen Utility & Dining Room
To create a continuous theme across the three rooms, matching flooring, work surfaces and furnishings have been used. Generous storage in the utility ensures that there is a place for all cleaning items and more, with laundry facilities neatly fitted within furniture. Flooring, plumbing, electrics, and lighting have also been adjusted to reflect the new layout, with a step into the dining room from the kitchen also created.
Our Kitchen Design & Installation Service
Across these three rooms drastic changes have been made thanks to a visionary design from the clients and designer George, which with the help of our fitting team has been fantastically brought to life. This project perfectly encapsulates the complete installation service that we are able to offer, utilising kitchen fitting, plumbing, electrics, lighting, flooring and our internal building option to reshape the layout of this property.

Ian Weir Architect
Located on the bushfire prone biodiverse landscape of Point Henry, Western Australia, and televised on ABC New Inventors and SBS Insight - the H House presents a model for reconciling bushfire and biodiversity with daily life.
The house was developed using a ‘ground up’ approach which followed a detailed topographical survey (by Dr Weir) and collaborations with a local botanists and a bushfire risk consultant to ascertain the level of threat that fire presented to this particular site. The intention from the outset however, was not to design a bushfire resistant house per se, but to develop a design which would place the owners in close proximity to the highly biodiverse heath vegetation of the site.
Bushfire awareness is embedded into daily life through the dual purposing of fire shutters to also control sun, insects and glare. In this way not only are costs minimised, but the resident’s behaviour in emergencies is directly aligned with their daily patterns of habitation.

Barley|Pfeiffer Architecture
Our inspiration for this home was an updated and refined approach to Frank Lloyd Wright’s “Prairie-style”; one that responds well to the harsh Central Texas heat. By DESIGN we achieved soft balanced and glare-free daylighting, comfortable temperatures via passive solar control measures, energy efficiency without reliance on maintenance-intensive Green “gizmos” and lower exterior maintenance.
The client’s desire for a healthy, comfortable and fun home to raise a young family and to accommodate extended visitor stays, while being environmentally responsible through “high performance” building attributes, was met. Harmonious response to the site’s micro-climate, excellent Indoor Air Quality, enhanced natural ventilation strategies, and an elegant bug-free semi-outdoor “living room” that connects one to the outdoors are a few examples of the architect’s approach to Green by Design that results in a home that exceeds the expectations of its owners.
