The walls are covered with classic white subway tiles, adding a timeless charm to the space. At your feet, a mesmerizing black hexagon charcoal floor starts from the entrance all the way to the back, nicely climbing up the shower wall. Furthermore, it’s a striking and modern touch that immediately catches your eye. Relaxation Starts Here Approaching the shower area, you can’t help but feel a sense of excitement. A sleek glass sliding door begs you to step inside and enjoy a refreshing shower. Easily gliding open, it offers both privacy and a spacious open feel to the room. Take a moment to appreciate the elegant fixtures and faucets in a warm bronze finish. Their subtle glow beautifully complements the white tiles, adding a touch of sophistication and style. In addition, each tap and handle reflects meticulous attention to detail, showcasing the careful craftsmanship that went into creating this exquisite bathroom. Attention on You Turn your attention to the vanity area, where a mirror has built-in lighting. The soft glow creates a flattering ambiance, casting a warm and inviting light across the entire bathroom. It should be noted, the mirror not only serves its practical purpose but also adds a touch of glamour and elegance to the space, enhancing your daily morning routine. Now, focus on the custom-made vanity cabinet, expertly crafted from dark walnut. The rich, luxurious wood exudes timeless beauty and sophistication. Additionally, it offers ample storage and space, cleverly designed to keep all your essentials organized and within easy reach. Sitting atop the cabinet is a stunning white slab counter with delicate grey veins across its surface. Elegant Lighting To enhance the overall atmosphere, recessed LED lights have been strategically placed throughout the bathroom. Casting a soft glow, highlighting the textures, colors, and architectural features. Clearly, the combination of light and shadow creates a captivating visual effect, adding depth and dimension to the space. This detailed designed bathroom harmoniously blends style and functionality, creating a haven of beauty and relaxation. It invites you to unwind and escape from the outside world. Subsequently, immerse yourself in this captivating bathroom experience, where every element has been carefully curated to provide a serene and rejuvenating environment.

Our team returned a historic Tudor cottage to its original 1930s splendor in Denver’s Cherry Hills neighborhood. The clients commissioned Paul Mahony, Senior Architect, to undertake a whole-house remodel of the property rich in detail, nostalgia, and plenty of quirks. The husband in particular held a special attachment to the property — he fondly remembered childhood visits to the home while attending business meetings with his father. He tasked Mahony and team to retain the spirit of the home’s historic Tudor design while removing and renovating outdated features that no longer work for his family’s lifestyle. Past remodels also had to be addressed, well-intentioned projects gone wrong that looked out of step with the home’s flow and character. Mahony’s approach was a delicate dance of looking back and looking ahead, and evolved into a rewarding process of bringing a design with deep historical roots into the modern era.

Photography by Caryn B. Davis Located in the Cornfield Point area of Old Saybrook along Long Island Sound, this project brought a classic, yet forgotten beach house back to life. Through a little detective work and some creative ingenuity, we restored and enhanced the exterior to it’s former glory and transformed the interior to a highly efficient and functional home all the while uplifting its quaint cottage charm. On the exterior, we recreated a wonderful, airy front porch with cozy bench seats that look out to the water. The white cedar shingle siding is pre-bleached with a subtle flair at the bottom and a delicate break at mid-elevation. The asphalt shingles are not only beautifully matched with the siding, but offer superior reflective qualities to dissipate the heat of the summer sun. On the interior, we joined the front seasonal porch with the family room to form a larger, open living and dining space with paneled walls and ceilings anchored by the original round stone fireplace. In the rear, we carefully crafted a galley kitchen and laundry space with an adjacent first floor master suite. The diminutive house and property posed multiple practical and regulatory challenges which were overcome by a strong team effort, due diligence, and a commitment to the process. John R. Get the look: B I R D by architect Andrew Heathfield of MINOH is unique in color and holds delicate features. The base cabinets are available in a shaker, slab, or beaded style navy blue, with oil-rubbed bronze hardware. Countertops take either a dark or light approach, with walnut or maple accents respectively. Concrete floors, stainless steel plumbing fixtures and contemporary lighting fixtures complete the truly versatile B I R D template. Options for integrated appliances and multiple backsplash options add to this design’s overall flexibility and character.

Perched atop a ridge, the buildable area was long but very narrow. A single axial line connects from the initial approach straight through the house and shoots to the view of mountains at the far end. The architecture of the home was envisioned to feel like an old French monastery-turned-family-home which has been restored and added to over several centuries. It is a place of solace and introspection, where the repetition of stone in house and landscape feels imposing, yet safe. Lush plantings line the sun-soaked parking court and dot the back terrace areas, creating delicate play of light and movement. A stepped water rill between terrace levels completes the atmosphere with its soothing babble.
