It comes with new features that include an adjustable headrest and continuous footrest to enhance relaxation. This modern recliner is custom made and crafted by world-renowned Spanish manufacturer Famaliving. Its frame is constructed with pine wood and MDF materials for durability while the seat is made with cushioned foam for added comfort. The back cushions and the large oversized arm pillows contain fibersilk for that extra touch of softness that will help you achieve the ultimate in relaxation; plus, like all Famaliving products, the Moonrise features a webbing system for suspension and support instead of the old spring design that typically sags over time. It also comes with a powered reclining mechanism that allows the seat to be adjusted with a touch of a button. With over 600 types of fabrics to choose from, this recliner can come upholstered in vast array of color and patterned fabrics so that you can add the right look to your home’s decor. A handsome wool area rug sets the tone in this waterside master retreat. The rug displays a modern twist on a traditional pattern and combines a soothing mixture of gold and grey tones. Gently playing off of these hues, the room’s furnishings take on a calming neutral color palette. This palette serves as the perfect backdrop for the use of warm, rich rust tones and diverse decorative fabrics. Linen, velvet, silk and wool come together and showcase a luxurious and contemporary room that finds itself united with a powerful sense of tradition.
Adhering to our client’s desire to incorporate pre-existing antiques, many of their personal furniture pieces were preserved. Any new items were selected based on the unique charm they offered to the space. An over-scale antiqued French chandelier hangs at the end of the bed serving as both a distinctive focal point and a dramatic statement. The more contemporary items, such as the white animal hide bench, mirrored coffee table and gilded iron table lamps, offer modern lines that present an attractive contrast against the turn-of-the-century oak bedroom set.
The master bedroom now functions as an enchanting companion to the connecting bathroom. With enough space to live, relax, and slumber in luxury, our clients can now take a deep breath and delight in their elegant hideaway.
(At the client’s request, this design was developed and executed in record time. The transformation took place over the course of 3 days which is a first for our team! We are proud of the close relationships we share with our clients and of the efficient, resourceful teamwork you can expect from Marie Flanigan Interiors; without these and a few incredible Houston-area vendors, this remarkable project would never have been possible.)

Living room - contemporary living room idea in Austin with white walls and a standard fireplace

The 3rd floor studio apartment offered a great space for TBHCo designers to show how you can fit all you need into one space. Fully staged with custom furniture by the designers and styled to show how to utilize this great space.

The existing kitchen was in a word, "stuck" between the family room, mudroom and the rest of the house. The client has renovated most of the home but did not know what to do with the kitchen. The space was cut off from the family room, had underwhelming storage capabilities, and could not accommodate family gatherings at the table. Access to recently redesigned backyard was down a step and through the mud room. We began by relocating the entrance to the yard into the kitchen with a French door. The remaining space was converted into a walk in pantry accessible from the kitchen. Next we opened a window to the family room so the children were visible from the kitchen side. The old peninsula plan was replaced with a beautiful blue painted island with seating for 4. The outdated appliances received a major upgrade with Sub Zero Wolf cooking and food preservation products. The visual beauty of the vaulted ceiling is enhanced by long pendants and oversized crown molding. A hard working wood tile floor grounds the blue and white colorway. The colors are repeated in a lovely blue and white screened marble tile. White subway tiles frame the feature. The biggest and possibly the most appreciated change to the space was when we opened the wall into the dining room to connect the disjointed rooms. Now the family has experienced a new appreciation for their home. Rooms which were previously storage areas and now integrated in to the family lifestyle. The open space is so conducive to entertaining visitors frequently just "drop in" In the dining area, we designed custom cabinets complete with a window seat the perfect spot for additional diners or a perch for the family cat. The tall cabinets store all of the china and crystal once stored in a back closet. Now it is always ready to be used. The last found space is now home to a refreshment center. Cocktails and coffee are easily stored and served convenient to the kitchen but out of the main cooking area.

This custom fireplace design was client's vision that came to life and accomplished what the client desired, which was to provide a focal point in the room and add warmth to the space. The fireplace features dramatic and vibrant real fire flame and is especially enjoable because of its location in the room and because there is no glass installed around it. This custom fireplace is designed with three open sides and two linear ribbon flame fires about thirty six inches long, covered with crushed black glass to enhance flame pattern. Collection hood was installed and suspended at the top, which connected to proper-sized vent system and power vent fan to ensure proper draft.
This appliance is a custom built decorative gas fireplace. The custom outdoor fireplace is rated for use with propane only and exhausts through a power vented 14” B-vent flue. The fireplace controls are designed to ensure that the exhaust fan has established an adequate draft via a pressure switch prior to initiating the pilot gas ignition sequence. This custom fireplace was approved by to the requirements contained in ANSI Z21.50-2014 “Vented Gas Fireplaces” standard. The investigation began on April 19, 2016 and concluded on April 29, 2016. The following non-destructive tests required by the applicable product standard were conducted with satisfactory results.

The main burner tray is made of 16 gauge low carbon steel. Burners are easily removable, without the use of special tools, for repair and cleaning. The burner tray is readily accessible and designed so that one person can perform the removal and replacement unassisted. The burner is installed in a granite surround which is capable of supporting more than 300 lbs. The fireplace has an induced draft and the design is such as to prevent gas flow to the main burners and pilot burners in the event the blower providing the draft becomes inoperative. A pressure switch is used to achieve this. All controls are accessible for normal servicing and functional adjustment in position and are replaceable during normal servicing. Removal of an access panel to secure access to the control compartment is employed. Each appliance is equipped with an automatic gas ignition system which provides for ignition of main burner gas by means of proved pilot. If the presence of the pilot is not proved, automatic shut-off of pilot and main burner gas. The design of the custom fireplace is such that the flue gases from all burners are carried out of the appliance through a single flue outlet. The fireplace is equipped with a vent safety shut-off system designed to shut off main burner gas in the event the appliance venting system is blocked. The pressure switch device complies with a nationally recognized standard. The design of an electrically operated vent damper device and the control system are such that the damper is in the open position at all times that gas is flowing to the main burner. The firepalce is equipped with an automatic valve which controls both the pilot burner and the main gas.

Like the regular sized Moonrise, the Moonrise XL power reclining chair from Famaliving California reflects modern style due to its contemporary, rounded shape and extra large size, making it look almost like a small sofa. But what’s really special about the Moonrise XL is that it was designed as a recliner for two, making it a perfect choice for couples or close friends. It features rocking motion, 360 degrees rotation, and reclining capability, which will only enhance your experience; plus, it also comes with a powered reclining mechanism that allows the seat to be adjusted with a touch of a button. Built to last using pine wood and MDF materials in its frame construction, this special recliner is custom made and crafted by world-renowned Spanish manufacturer Famaliving. It’s also built with comfort in mind because of the cushioned foam used in the seat and fibersilk used in the back cushion and oversized arm pillows. And like all other Famaliving products, the Moonrise XL is made with a webbing system for suspension and support instead of the old spring design of the past, which typically sags over time. With more than 600 fabrics to choose from, the Moonrise XL can come upholstered in a wide range of colors or patterned fabrics, which means you’ll have plenty of choices to choose from to add to your home’s decor. The bottom has a circular metal base in a black finish that helps to maintain its low profile design and allow the 360 degree rotation.

Not everyone would see the hidden beauty in the Yonkers property destined for the wrecking ball in 2000. But one family took the serious fixer-upper under their wing. Crumbling walls, overgrown maples (indeed, saplings were busting through the brick walls), and deer living in the basement was the state of affairs when Westover Landscape Design initially arrived on the scene. A year of intensive, meticulous, thoughtful renovation by the homeowner followed while the house was brought up to speed. When the last construction machine finally rumbled out, that’s when Robert Welsch and his crew began their odyssey.
The goal was to honor the newly restored relic and deliver it into the future with fitting surroundings. “We wanted to bring that treasure back to life,” Robert Welsch explains. Working closely with the homeowner as well as the city of Yonkers to guide the restoration, their first feat was to install a proper drainage system with catchments capable of keeping storm water from the massive roof flowing away. Before anything was visible on the surface, extensive work was accomplished underground. Meanwhile, a plan was drafted to honor the era of the house. Westover chose bluestone as the primary path material for its easy maintenance and simplicity when laying the swank configuration of pathways around the house and outward to an entertaining pavilion. By cleverly hemming the bluestone with period brick that echoes the building material for the house for continuity, the result is a smart and sophisticated finish to a promenade that constantly draws the family and their pets outdoors. Brick was also used to rebuild the walled gardens for the much-needed privacy in a close-knit Yonkers community. And a graceful wrought iron gate enhances the arrival experience. But walls and gates were not the only element to screen and reveal views—plant selection was critical.
Few landscapers would go the extra mile to find period perfect plants for a 19th Century restoration, but Robert Welsch saw the importance of authenticity in creating the mood. He repeated large trees—such as an exquisite London plane tree in the front yard—to balance the expression in the back. Recognizing the need for immediate stature, he selected a weeping willow to gain instant volume, giving the landscape a sense of deep roots. A weeping Camperdown elm adds sophisticated drama to the walled stroll gardens. Hydrangeas were incorporated for their billowy stature, easy maintenance, and long blooming season. Similarly, all the plants in residence play their part in the display that goes beyond the usual spring fling to extend throughout the growing season—offering visual interest even when they are not performing. From spring bulbs to autumn perennials, there is never a dull moment. Meanwhile, every step along the way was a collaboration working hand-in-hand with the homeowner and the city to make certain that the historic landmark status of the property was upheld and honored.
The result goes beyond a landscape that is just old faithful. It adds life to the picture, creating a jewel-like setting for the newly proud house. In a word, it is sublime. By planting wisely and using sustainable elements, the restored house and its surroundings are ready for the next generation and beyond. This Yonkers gem remains meticulously groomed under the watchful eye and skill of Westover Landscape Design’s team of gardeners—It’s a keeper.
