This was a former model home done up entirely in blues and country style before I got my hands on it- the new homeowners HATED IT.
Outside of the floors, it gave me a clean slate to add curves and custom pieces to accommodate their two desires- the warm, neutral color palette of Sedona and a custom drywall unit that spanned the whole 24' of their family room wall.
Not only did I design a great piece custom made to fit each electrical component, prevent glare on their flat screen and hide their speakers, I added split face travertine and multiple bumped out levels to help ease the narrow "bowling alley" look of their room. I then had fun with a simple, yet custom rug design bringing in all of my colors- just 7' wide by 22' long- to span the entire space.
In the kitchen we refinished their cabinets, adding additional cabinetry to the left which included a wine rack. I also used Jenn Air oil rubbed bronze appliances and complimented them with gorgeous granite and copper glass back splash tile.

The interior of this gorgeous Brentwood, TN home hadn’t been repainted in over 10 years. This customer called us to give the entire 5600 square feet home a face lift. We did extensive drywall patching from previous settling and painted ceilings, wall and trim to the entire home. The finished product was a delightful transformation.

This secluded single-family home in Great Falls, had a beautiful backyard setting. The owners recently built a gorgeous pool and surround deck on the right side of the house in their backyard. They inherited a rundown deck off of the kitchen patio doors.
Our team designed a two-story outdoor living addition which offers the family everything that they can hope for in outdoor living.
Our massive plan required excavation to make the lower level patio both attractive and functional for all kinds of outdoor activity. We excavated down two feet to create a nine-foot high patio, cut concrete walls to add French doors from to dark and unused side of the basement bringing improved use for the basement.
The entire back wall was covered with matching brick veneer to entire front and side elevations.
The roof of this patio was covered with EPDM roofing rolls to make the lower patio stay dry and protected.
Steps away from pool sun deck, this flagstone covered patio turned into a prime space for entertainment.
The built-in middle bar equipped with under counter beverage fridge and beer tab to make gatherings more exciting. The side steps built in with matching solid stone threads offered access to driveway and the second floor covered porch.
The second floor is finished with porcelain floor tiles, stain grade ceiling panels, wrought iron rails, decorative recessed panel columns, hanging gorgeous ceiling fans steps away from the kitchen.
Just outside of this covered porch, there is a deck with the same tile floor facing the pool area offering a breath taking view.
Carefully selection of soft toned wood looking plank porcelain tiles compliment the knotty soft grey stain ceiling panels making this project one that shines even on rainy days.
The custom-made spiral rod iron staircase offers an elegant second set of steps so that the upper level deck can reach into backyard and pool deck.
Vogue Kitchens
As part of an extension to a 1930’s family house in North-West London, Vogue Kitchens was briefed to create a stylish understated handleless contemporary kitchen, yet with a plethora of clever internal storage options to keep it completely clutter-free. The extended area to the back of the property has an internal semi-partition wall part separates the kitchen and living space, while there is an open walk-through to either room. An entire wall of panel doors lead to the garden from both rooms and can be opened fully on either side to bring the outdoors in.
The kitchen also features subtle adjustable LED spotlights in the ceiling to provide bright light, while further LED strip lighting was installed above the cabinetry to be a feature at night, and when entertaining.
For colour, the clients were keen for the kitchen to have a monochrome effect for the kitchen, to complement the grey tones used for their living and dining space. They wanted the cabinetry and the worktops to be in a very flat matt finish, and a special matt lacquer from Leicht was used to create this effect. Leicht Carbon Grey was used for the tall cabinetry, while a much paler Merino colourway was used for contrast on the long kitchen island. For all
surfaces, a quartz composite Unistone worktop was featured in Bianco colourway, which was also used for the end panels. Specially designed to the clients’ requirements, one end of the
kitchen island features a cut out recess to accommodate a Leicht bespoke small square freestanding table with a top in Oak Smoke Silver laminate together with clients’own seating
for informal dining. Directly above is pendant lighting by Tom Dixon, which features three non-uniform pendants to break up the linear conformity of the room.
Installed within the facing side of the island is a Caple two-zone undercounter wine cabinet and centrally situated within the worksurface is a Siemens 60cm induction hob alongside a 30cm domino gas wok to accommodate all surface cooking requirements. Directly above is a
90cm fully integrated ceiling extractor by Falmec. Housed within the tall cabinetry are two 60cm Siemens multifunction ovens which are installed one above the other and also enclosed behind cabinetry doors are a Liebherr larder fridge and tall freezer.
To contrast with all the matt cabinetry in the room, and to draw the eye, a granite splashback in Cosmic Black Leather was installed behind the wet area, which faces the internal aspect of the kitchen island. The wet area also comprises cabinetry for utilities and a Siemens 60cm integrated dishwasher, while within the the worksurface is a Blanco undermount sink and Quooker Flex 3-in-1 Boiling Water Tap.

TYPE: Realized project
“Might we suggest that… if the pulsing LED begins to drive you crazy, turn the box round so the LED faces to the wall or the back of your shelf” questo è il suggerimento leggibile all’interno del cartoncino dell’album Pulse dei Pink Floyd da cui scaturisce il concept creativo di questo appartamento di 65 mq situato a Roma: un progetto di interni vivo e pulsante che ben rispecchia l’animo dei proprietari, un musicista e una dottoressa in attesa del primo figlio.
“Might we suggest that… if the pulsing LED begins to drive you crazy, turn the box round so the LED faces to the wall or the back of your shelf” this is the readable suggestion within the Pulse album by Pink Floyd gives rise to the creative concept of this 65 square meter apartment located in Rome: a living and pulsating interior project that well reflects the soul of the owners, a musician and a doctor waiting for their first child. The renovation project has completely upset the living area of the apartment, preferring a large open space obtained by eliminating a long corridor between the kitchen and the living room, while the design proposal in the sleeping area leaves unchanged the two bedrooms and the bathroom. With the new planimetric distribution, right from the entrance, there is a creative emotion that refers to the sensations experienced in perceiving for the first time the heartbeat of the future child: in fact, the rows of artificial grass at various heights recall the display of the heart rate. A part of the living room has been raised and completely covered in oak parquet, to act as a stage for the grand piano, the focal point of the entire living area. Used like a backdrop to the piano there is an absolute white wall on which a decorative painting has been placed that creates a play of lights and shadows. Of great visual and architectural impact was the choice of lights: black lacquered circles of different diameters stand out at various heights spreading LED light on the ceiling, harmoniously, reminding the album cover with its LED buttons. The black lacquered metal shelves spread the light on the wall, emphasizing the material texture of the painting. The kitchen is minimal, essential, with the graft of the table that seems to float thanks to the light and elegant support of the glass leg. Everything is played on the tones of white and black, recalling the piano keyboard and the creative impulse that, when it is so strong, does not allow nuances.

A family in McLean VA decided to remodel two levels of their home.
There was wasted floor space and disconnections throughout the living room and dining room area. The family room was very small and had a closet as washer and dryer closet. Two walls separating kitchen from adjacent dining room and family room.
After several design meetings, the final blue print went into construction phase, gutting entire kitchen, family room, laundry room, open balcony.
We built a seamless main level floor. The laundry room was relocated and we built a new space on the second floor for their convenience.
The family room was expanded into the laundry room space, the kitchen expanded its wing into the adjacent family room and dining room, with a large middle Island that made it all stand tall.
The use of extended lighting throughout the two levels has made this project brighter than ever. A walk -in pantry with pocket doors was added in hallway. We deleted two structure columns by the way of using large span beams, opening up the space. The open foyer was floored in and expanded the dining room over it.
All new porcelain tile was installed in main level, a floor to ceiling fireplace(two story brick fireplace) was faced with highly decorative stone.
The second floor was open to the two story living room, we replaced all handrails and spindles with Rod iron and stained handrails to match new floors. A new butler area with under cabinet beverage center was added in the living room area.
The den was torn up and given stain grade paneling and molding to give a deep and mysterious look to the new library.
The powder room was gutted, redefined, one doorway to the den was closed up and converted into a vanity space with glass accent background and built in niche.
Upscale appliances and decorative mosaic back splash, fancy lighting fixtures and farm sink are all signature marks of the kitchen remodel portion of this amazing project.
I don't think there is only one thing to define the interior remodeling of this revamped home, the transformation has been so grand.
Four Elements Construction
Friends and neighbors of an owner of Four Elements asked for help in redesigning certain elements of the interior of their newer home on the main floor and basement to better reflect their tastes and wants (contemporary on the main floor with a more cozy rustic feel in the basement). They wanted to update the look of their living room, hallway desk area, and stairway to the basement. They also wanted to create a 'Game of Thrones' themed media room, update the look of their entire basement living area, add a scotch bar/seating nook, and create a new gym with a glass wall. New fireplace areas were created upstairs and downstairs with new bulkheads, new tile & brick facades, along with custom cabinets. A beautiful stained shiplap ceiling was added to the living room. Custom wall paneling was installed to areas on the main floor, stairway, and basement. Wood beams and posts were milled & installed downstairs, and a custom castle-styled barn door was created for the entry into the new medieval styled media room. A gym was built with a glass wall facing the basement living area. Floating shelves with accent lighting were installed throughout - check out the scotch tasting nook! The entire home was also repainted with modern but warm colors. This project turned out beautiful!

Most designers will tell you the most difficult project is to work on is your own home. My kitchen remodel was no different for me.
We loved our previous downtown loft with the large open spaces and wanted to recreate that feel in our new suburban townhouse. The townhome had wonderful views of the woods but lacked an open floor plan, sophisticated finishes and character we desired.
The original kitchen, though open to the living area, had two small islands. One cut the kitchen off from the living areas. The other island had the cooktop and not the sink as I had wished. In fact the sink faced the wall.
The challenge was to improve the flow of the room, take advantage of the view and make it more conducive for entertaining. The island was expanded to hold the sink and seating to gather while entertaining. It faces the living space and the views of the woods. All the appliances including a steam oven and TV had to be located on the wall behind the island. A custom appliance cabinet was designed to hold the microwave drawer, steam oven and TV. That unit along with the refrigerator and range make the entire wall appear balanced without being cluttered.
With a large open plan, the finishes needed to be as sophisticated as the adjacent living room. The furniture quality cabinetry is creamy white with a grey highlight and the island is a natural stained walnut; colors and materials that are repeated throughout the house. The backsplash tile is a custom cut limestone that matches the new fireplace surround in the adjacent living room.
Mission accomplished – the new space is opened up. It’s far more organized and sophisticated. And it functions perfectly while entertaining in our “loft in the woods”.
Classic Kitchens, Etc.
A stunning remodel in Mission Viejo, California is now a stunning feature in this home. Let’s start with the Vanity area. An espresso cabinet topped with a white quartz counter top that houses an undermount square sink. A Moen, Voss faucet in an eight inch spread which matches the brushed nickel accents around the room. Above the vanity, sits a custom matching mirror with beveled glass and a matching front facing vanity light.
The Shower is a world apart from the original shower in the home. A 3x5 foot shower donning 12”x24” commercially rated, slip resistant, porcelain tile, which looks like vein cut travertine. An accent linear band made of mosaic travertine and glass was added. The shower is tiled from floor to ceiling, and includes a rebuilt custom shower seat. Two grab bars for safety and security were added as well. For functionality we changed the small single niche that was in the space to two 15” niches. A shelf made of the same tile as the shower makes for a seamless transition. We used a frameless shower enclosure with sliding glass doors. The base of the shower includes a 4x4 curb, floated shower floor, and a hot mop shower pan. For the tile floor we designed a 2”x2” basket weave pattern, finished with an acrylic grout, using the same tile we put on walls and floor. An Ebbe flow shower drain with hair catcher is a gorgeous way to center the space.
Speaking of the same tile, we continued the 12x24 inch porcelain tile along the entire bathroom floor, creating a larger feel to the stunning room.

The home boasts 7.2 Kilowatts of photovoltaic energy production. Nestled amongst the tall pines in Edgemont Highlands it seemed a difficult task to harness a large amount of solar energy. The home however was designed not only to be unobtrusive to the existing landscape but also to raise as high as possible the south facing roof line above most of those tall pines. We were able to accommodate on that roof as many solar panels as the local electrical supplier would allow. The result is that the entire roof that faces south was covered with high efficiency panels. By building an extremely efficient home the 7.2 Kilowatts should cover 120% of the energy usage needed for the homes heating, lighting, and cooking. This will leave energy enough without paying the power company to charge an electric vehicle as well.

Across valley from the town of St. Helena in the very heart of the Napa Valley, this site presented a magnificent opportunity to capture 180 degree views of the entire valley with the addition of a second story and a major remodel to an existing residence. Two levels of limestone-covered decks on the view side provide both shade from the afternoon sun and entertaining spaces. Vaulted ceilings in the interior spaces with neutral colors reflect natural light from the expansive view-facing windows into the interior and allow the colors of the landscape to reflect deep into the house. Corner windows without a center mullion make the openings seem windowless and help to blur the distinction from outdoors to indoors. Stainless steel cable deck railings provide a minimal interruption of the views.
The finishes and details are subtle, clean, and contemporary to blend into the naturally beautiful surroundings of this world-class center for wine, food and culture. The gourmet kitchen has a large bar that becomes the center of activity in any social gathering. The drive-through porte cochere accommodates guest parking for several cars.
The design style is simple elegance. The roof forms can appear to be flying into the valley below with parallel roof planes accented by standing seam metal roofs that flow toward the view. The arches were designed to receive a translucent covering for the upper deck, not shown in these photos.

The Atherton House is a family compound for a professional couple in the tech industry, and their two teenage children. After living in Singapore, then Hong Kong, and building homes there, they looked forward to continuing their search for a new place to start a life and set down roots.
The site is located on Atherton Avenue on a flat, 1 acre lot. The neighboring lots are of a similar size, and are filled with mature planting and gardens. The brief on this site was to create a house that would comfortably accommodate the busy lives of each of the family members, as well as provide opportunities for wonder and awe. Views on the site are internal. Our goal was to create an indoor- outdoor home that embraced the benign California climate.
The building was conceived as a classic “H” plan with two wings attached by a double height entertaining space. The “H” shape allows for alcoves of the yard to be embraced by the mass of the building, creating different types of exterior space. The two wings of the home provide some sense of enclosure and privacy along the side property lines. The south wing contains three bedroom suites at the second level, as well as laundry. At the first level there is a guest suite facing east, powder room and a Library facing west.
The north wing is entirely given over to the Primary suite at the top level, including the main bedroom, dressing and bathroom. The bedroom opens out to a roof terrace to the west, overlooking a pool and courtyard below. At the ground floor, the north wing contains the family room, kitchen and dining room. The family room and dining room each have pocketing sliding glass doors that dissolve the boundary between inside and outside.
Connecting the wings is a double high living space meant to be comfortable, delightful and awe-inspiring. A custom fabricated two story circular stair of steel and glass connects the upper level to the main level, and down to the basement “lounge” below. An acrylic and steel bridge begins near one end of the stair landing and flies 40 feet to the children’s bedroom wing. People going about their day moving through the stair and bridge become both observed and observer.
The front (EAST) wall is the all important receiving place for guests and family alike. There the interplay between yin and yang, weathering steel and the mature olive tree, empower the entrance. Most other materials are white and pure.
The mechanical systems are efficiently combined hydronic heating and cooling, with no forced air required.
