Governed by a white and red theme, we used sophisticated modern furnishings to divide the room into separate areas. For the TV area, we used a big square tufted cushion sectional in red with throw pillows and complemented it with a similar patterned coffee table and a futuristic rocking chair in white. The other area, which is more suitable for conversations, features four round sofa chairs in white and a circular center table in wood. We made the room more interesting through abstract wall art and a poodle dog sculpture in silver.

ASID 2018 DESIGN OVATION SINGLE SPACE DEDICATED FUNCTION/ SECOND PLACE. The clients requested professional assistance transforming this small, jumbled room with lots of angles into an efficient home office and occasional guest bedroom for visiting family. Maintaining the existing stained wood moldings was requested and the final vision was to reflect their Nigerian heritage in a dramatic and tasteful fashion. Photo by Michael Hunter

Bengur’s style is surprisingly adaptable to a range of environments. In this Upper East Side apartment, Bengur uses traditional architectural detailing to great effect, by mixing continental pieces that speak to the gothic archway and ornate neoclassical fireplace. In a lively kaleidoscope of color and textures, accented by vintage photography from India and jewel toned ethnic textiles, the interiors come to life with a sense of wanderlust — the perfect highlight to her client's eclectic art collection.

Surrounded by canyon views and nestled in the heart of Orange County, this 9,000 square foot home encompasses all that is “chic”. Clean lines, interesting textures, pops of color, and an emphasis on art were all key in achieving this contemporary but comfortable sophistication.

This Kukio home rests on the sunny side of the Big Island and serves as a perfect example of our style, blending the outdoors with the inside of a home.”

In styling this Craftsman cottage we used warm orange as a tonally repeated color accented with bright pops of white, teal, blue, red and yellow. The clean white walls offered a multitude of options for bold and earth tones alike. Narrow plank hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings with skylights and industrial hanging pendant lights create a sense of space in the diminutive living area. We used two parts of a modular west elm sectional, a brass tray table with an inlaid wood base, and two vintage bentwood chairs pulled up to a table that can be extended in length to seat four.

A young Mexican couple approached us to create a streamline modern and fresh home for their growing family. They expressed a desire for natural textures and finishes such as natural stone and a variety of woods to juxtapose against a clean linear white backdrop.
For the kid’s rooms we are staying within the modern and fresh feel of the house while bringing in pops of bright color such as lime green. We are looking to incorporate interactive features such as a chalkboard wall and fun unique kid size furniture.
The bathrooms are very linear and play with the concept of planes in the use of materials. They will be a study in contrasting and complementary textures established with tiles from resin inlaid with pebbles to a long porcelain tile that resembles wood grain.
This beautiful house is a 5 bedroom home located in Presidential Estates in Aventura, FL.

Black wrought iron pendant lantern lights are suspended from soft blue painted ceiling beams. Bright blue and yellow throw pillows adorn wicker chairs. The brightly patterned floors are Mexican tile.

Eclectic in style, the home’s modern and ethnic furnishings are unified in color and scale. Many of the pieces were locally custom-made, including a sofa that nestles into the living room’s bay window; living-room chairs cozily upholstered in sheepskin; handcrafted wood dining-room benches and a dining-table top; and vibrant blown-glass sculptures by Portland artist Andy Paiko.
