This whole house renovation done by Harry Braswell Inc. used Virginia Kitchen's design services (Erin Hoopes) and materials for the bathrooms, laundry and kitchens. The custom millwork was done to replicate the look of the cabinetry in the open concept family room. This completely custom renovation was eco-friend and is obtaining leed certification. This new screened porch provides an attractive transition from the home’s interior to the open-air sitting porch. The same rich, natural materials and finishes used on the adjacent sitting porch have been used here. A new fireplace with a bluestone slab hearth and custom-milled mantel warms the space year-round. This master bathroom has everything you need to get you ready for the day. The beautiful backsplash has a mixture of brown tones that add dimension and texture to the focal wall. The lighting blends well with the other bathroom fixtures and the cabinets provide plenty of storage while demonstrating a simply beautiful style. Brad Knipstein was the photographer.

The nearly 10’ island is an ideal place for food prep, a quick bite, buffet set-up, or sharing a glass of wine with friends. 2.5” thick marble countertop on the island gives substance and a professional feel.

We recently created an exciting new area from an existing outdoor deck. We enclosed the space, added a fireplace, raised the ceiling and insulated it. We were able to create a beautiful new room where friends and family can happily gather together all year round.

I designed custom blackened steel beam covers to fit around existing plaster beams. This allowed me to incorporate lighting in a location that had no power supply. I had the steel fabricated to follow and fit the existing amazing scalloped ceiling. White lacquer cabinets and a thick, solid, stone slab kitchen island keeps the feeling fresh and provides dramatic contrast to the dark floor and steel. Photos by: Seth Caplan

This formidable turn-of-the-century home sits on a large lot overlooking a prominent lake in Minneapolis. The architecturally significant home was altered to create a connected kitchen/family space, an informal powder room, mudroom, and functional connection to the garage. Additionally, the kitchen and children’s bath were renovated and a new nursery was created.
