The centre piece of the works was a single storey ground floor extension that extended the kitchen and usable living space, whilst connecting the house with the garden thanks to the Grand Slider II aluminium sliding doors and a large fixed frame picture window. Daubeney Road is a typical London terraced Victorian house in Hackney. Our brief was to extend and refurbish the house to better accommodate a growing family’s needs. The design added a dormer loft, bathroom pod loft and a side extension. Our main focus was on remodelling the kitchen to be the social heart of the house and allow for large gatherings in a relaxed environment.

Modern metal exterior home idea in Dublin

Photographer: Will Pryce This Grade 2 listed house in Barnsbury, Islington was renovated and extended by Dominic McKenzie Architects. The existing property consisted of a number of small rooms with a lack of hierarchy and little visual connection to the garden. These problems were addressed through the double height rear extension which unites the Ground floor and Basement. The extension’s bespoke 5m French doors allow the house’s lower levels to be completely opened to the garden. The roof extension adds an additional floor to the house and contains the master bedroom, shower and wc. The traditional mansard form matches neighbouring houses in the Conservation Area, but is lightened through the addition of two roof lights. The interior is lined with painted tongue and groove timber referring to artists’ garrets.

A contemporary rear extension and renovation to revitalise the living accommodation of a mid-terraced Victorian dwelling within the Calabria Road Conservation Area. This handsome house in Highbury suffered from its traditionally enclosed layout. The works extended and opened the house to the rear, creating a light, expansive kitchen / dining area with direct connection to the newly upgraded garden.
